The Lyrics

and finally, Pearl's request, for a song about "kid's silly soda." this OS just kinda clicked with the words "silly soda," you know? of course, I had to look the stuff up, as I had never heard of it, before. apparently, it's some kind of raspberry soda, made with carbonated water & raspberry syrup! and quite honestly, it sounds pretty good! anyway, everybody, please enjoy!
OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K2aww8xKcE
our two children, brother & sister
got real thirsty that day
a day of shopping, in heat that would blister
a cold drink's what they craved
see, they don't believe in acting good, behaving good
unless we do what they say
was all we could do to calm them down
little drink was worth the price that we paid

Silly Soda, take a small drink today
Silly Soda, only 70 cal. a cup, my my!
Silly Soda, sparkling, cold raspberry taste
Silly Soda, chase summer thirst away

mmm, taste drives me wild, I think I love it more than any kind of a child
some drinks taste like paint, whoever made this one is a saint!
Silly Soda, the drink the kiddies choose
Silly Soda, chase summer thirst away

drop on by, if you're going shopping
in midst of a heatwave
go get it, at caribou coffee
or, just do one, homemade
see, I just believe in eatin' good and drinkin' good, regardless of how high your age
so, I'll be bringing a dozen to the table
these drinks should be all the ra-a-age!

Silly Soda, take a small drink today
Silly Soda, only 70 cal. a cup, my my!
Silly Soda, sparkling, cold raspberry taste
Silly Soda, chase summer thirst away

Hey! Silly Soda, the drink the kiddies choose
Silly Soda, after trying some, I'll say so do I!
Silly Soda, cure for Summertime Blues
Silly Soda, a cold, refreshing taste

Come On! Hey! Silly Soda, chase summer thirst away...
thanks for reading! I've got a couple more request coming up, so, be on the lookout for those! :)

There was a song entitled "Arizona" which was released when I was 12???? Seeing as how I was born and raised there, how could I have missed it? (ba doom tsssh) Same thing happened with Glen Campbell's "By The Time I Get To Phoenix". I spaced out on that one too

I don't like cucumbers, but I took a sip. Tastes like cucumbers indeed! Better when cold in the fridge. I go to a British store now to get Dandelion & Burdock Root sodas. Cost Plus is way cheaper!

No, of course not, Jon. Phoenix Metro area was really small time in 1970, with less than one quarter the population it has now, so any mention of Phoenix at the national stage would have sent goose bumps up your spine ..... I actually didn't like the song very much, though I was a big fan of Paul Revere and the Raiders

Rob & Lennie - I like the OS and cucumbers! oh well, agree to disagree, I guess. :P

I probably dont like the OS much because there's no connection between the word "Arizona" and the rest of the lyrics. I'm listening to the lyrics and I'm like "What the Fraud? Isn't this a song about Arizona." Perhaps I could rewrite the song so it makes sense

FWIW I think your parodies are the best! Here's three fives for you.

CML - a parody of Arizona, about Arizona? I'd been down for reading that!
Pam - thank you very much!

Jonathan, back in the '70s there used to be a soda called Dream Cream Soda. It disappeared in the late '80s. Did you ever try it? Best damn cream soda I ever tasted. I think it was made locally in my state.
Jonathan - January 29, 2018 - Report this comment
Nope, Martha. it disappeared before I was even born! (I'm a '90s baby, with a great love of '60s - '80s culture.) I do love a good cream soda, though. sounds like I missed out!
CML - January 29, 2018 - Report this comment
Well that's a surprise, Jonathan. If you were born in the decade of the Nineties, how in the world could you possibly be aware of the existence of a song like "Arizona"?? I scarcely remembered it, and I was 13 at the time, and from Arizona!! ........ BTW, my youngest is a December '90 baby. You younger than her?
Jonathan - January 29, 2018 - Report this comment
^ yup, '92! I believe a lot of people here assumed I was older, due to my tastes! I recall one bloke who was talking down to me for still watching cartoons, saying I was 50! (although to be fair, I probably will still be watching cartoons, at 50!) the '90s had some great things, too. (particularly on the Nickelodeon & country music front.) but I thoroughly enjoy much from the '60s, '70s and especially the '80s! to a point, that I often wish I could've been there!
Rob Arndt - January 30, 2018 - Report this comment
Hey Jon, is your brother older or younger than you?
