Parody Song Title:

"Seems Chicago Loves Wisconsin Dells"

The Lyrics

Given the proximity of Wisconsin Dells to the Chicagoland region, there can be no mistaking the fact that, for particularly the hoi polloi, Wisconsin Dells and summer seem inseparable--even considering where the drive up takes about 3 hours or thereabouts. In the second verse, allusion is made to where Wisconsin Dells was previously known as Kilbourn; the name change to the present such came about in 1931 in the interest of attracting tourists in the Great Depression's wake. Tommy Bartlett himself (1914-1998) was a much-loved radio and TV personality of his time, becoming even more so thanks to bumper stickers promoting his water-ski show on Lake Delton south of Wisconsin Dells, famous for that sticker more so than the quality of the act.
Towards Memorial Day, or a week beforehand,
The focus must seem to be
About the imminence of summer vacation
And the quick getaways;
Around Chicagoland,
It's my understanding that
Wisconsin Dells is the summer sort of place
That they enjoy;

When they can't stand tieups on expressways,
When they can't stand the heat,
Especially if the a/c's on the fritz
And the fans are quite close,
From Zion to Richton Park,
Joliet to Michigan C.,
And especially so all around that ChiTown,
They can all well agree:

CHORUS:
Chicago loves Wisconsin Dells!
You know Chicago loves those waterslides!
Chicago loves those Duck rides, too,
And more where they came from....

Even before Tommy Bartlett's Show made
Wisconsin Dells quite the name
All around Chicagoland, they've been fond
Of enjoying those Dells,
Back when "Kilbourn" was the name,
And since the name change as well,
This connexion between Chcicago and the Dells
Seems to only get stronger--and they know--

[electric guitar riff]

(repeat CHORUS)

And while up in the Dells, the Chicagoland crowd
Still loves their deep-dish pizzas,
And they certainly know where to go all the while
To find the best such around;
They happen to be in the know
From the Inkstand to Stand Rock,
Even if waterparks are now the big draw
More so than the scenery...

(repeat CHORUS)

Seems you took me up on my challenge...this Chicagoan admires your wellspring of enthusiasm for the Dells. DKTOS, so I won't vote, but can you write about any other subject?...perhaps the House On the Rock :))
