Song Parodies -> "Back In Those Days"

Original Song Title:

"Those Were The Days"

Original Performer:

Lee Adams and Charles Strouse

Parody Song Title:

"Back In Those Days"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

This is not the TV Theme Song to "All in the Family" but the extended full version by Adams & Strouse. Here I used a Third Reich theme.
All the Messerschmitts on display
Goose-stepping high in parades
All the big guns Krupp had made
Back in those days

Living in a Nazi State
Germany was filled with hate
Heil! Our Fuhrer was so great
Back in those days

And we knew who we were then,
German Volk were all Aryan
Heil! We could use a man
like Adolf Hitler again

War seemed to be imminent
German soldiers to be sent
Anywhere there was a threat
Back in those days

Then there was the war to win,
German troops spread far too thin
Five years later came D-Day
The Reds heading for Berlin

Rations short and lines were long
Allies bombing all day long
How could everything go wrong?
Back in those days

This was a very quick parody I did late last night. It was originally to be "What's with the Gays?" but that subject matter was too difficult for me, so I opted for what I know best. Took 5 mins to write!!! Someone smart here might notice that I also wrote this chronologically from 1935-45 just by the lyrics!!!
