This entry is from a book I have on Route 66 tales and features some poetry and verses from some songs (popular and obscure). I have taken a few versrses and then added to them to make a fuller song parody. The premise is of a different WW2 where the war went into 1946 and how the German soldier would look and where he would be and the outlook- which is still grim. The Alpine Redoubt was a possibility in 1945 and work was underway on the world's largest underground complex Jonastal S.III which would be a gigantic arms center with the new Fuhrer bunker at its hub. There were 18,000 slave laborers there plus 6000 SS and scientific specialists. It was never bomber nor photographed due to an EM cannon installed (refer to US document German Capabilities in 1945). It had a range of 7 miles up to 30,000 ft and could knock-out Allied aircraft motors (Messerschmitt at Oberammergau had such a machine as well). The '46 German soldier would have had a new M44 steel helmet (the postwar M56 E German type), anti-IR dye Liebermuster camouflage, night vision, new STG assault rifles by Mauser (STG-45), new AT weapons both wire-guided and hand held Pzf 150-250M (which became the RPG) and German tanks would feature more deflective armor and fire magnesium rounds to fuse enemy guns and turrets. The LW which would survive would have to use the Autobahns for t/o and landings, hidden in the Schwarzwald but could still reach the B-36 if introduced (not really). I left the German mini-nuke and So Bf 109 out of this, but you get the idea.
