The Lyrics

2007. What a year it's been! It's been a great year so far, but I hope next year will be better. Anyways, enjoy the parody, and let us venture forth into the next year! DKTOS?
Entering 2008,
There’ll be love & there’ll be hate,
And I’m hoping that this will
Be a better year.

This year has been extremely eventful,
I have finally graduated from school.
But now I’m going to college,
Where I’ll meet new friends.

Last I heard, there was still a war in Iraq,
And no longer is France led by Jacques Chirac,(1)
Saddam Hussein’s gone to hell now,
Here’s to the next year:

Entering 2008,
There’ll be love & there’ll be hate,
And I’m hoping that this will
Be a better year.

Some guy pleaded to us: “Leave Britney alone!”(2)
And New England’s sports teams fought hard & they shone!(3)
It was an interesting year,
But now we must say goodbye.

I have finally traveled on an airplane,
And as usual, I am still insane,
Who knows what will happen next year?
But this is all that I can say:

Entering 2008,
There’ll be love & there’ll be hate,
And I’m hoping that this will
Be a better year.

(guitar solo)

Let us hope for a better tomorrow,
Let us hope that there will be less sorrow.
Now our lives are much fuller now,
Who knows what’s around the bend?

Entering 2008,
There’ll be love & there’ll be hate,
And I’m hoping that this will
Be a bet-
Be a better year.
Annual Notes:

1. Nicolas Sarkozy replaced Jacques Chirac as president of France in the 2007 elections.
2. After Britney Spears' poor lip-syncing at the 2007 VMA Awards, Chris Crocker made a video called "Leave Britney Alone!".
3. To be precise, the Red Sox won the World Series and the Patriots were undefeated during this NFL season, the first time in 35 years that the latter has happened.

Dylan - Nice hail for the New Year. Excellent execution - the parody and the dictator. A fine tribute to the lucky year 7 and a quest for fate in year number 8. So 8 & 7 make 15 and that means 3 fives in my book.
