The Lyrics

OK this one is gonna upset a lot of you here but I used Edgar Lee Masters Point of view that he used in Spoon River Anthology, where the character gets to speak his piece, ie a devil's advocate if you will...
Nathan Gale is my name and I served in the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune
'Til the Marines discharged me half way though my hitch
I stood over 6 foot 3 and I was so angry just barely alive
By December the Eighth Dimebag had fell it's a time I remember, oh so well

The night I shot old Dimebag down and all the thrashers were screaming
The night I shot old Dimebag down and the metal heads where freaking, they went
Argh, argh, argh, argh, argh, argh. Argh, argh, argh, argh, argh, argh.

Took his life at the Alrosa villa club, for all his fans to see
Police quick come see, there goes Nathan, he just made Dimebag so holy
Now I don't mind doing no good but I do care that Dimebag's no good
I'm gonna make him bleed and leave him dead
Shoot four more and then go to my rest
When he broke up Pantera he broke up the very best...

The night I shot old Dimebag down and all the thrashers were screaming
The night I shot old Dimebag down and the metal heads where freaking, they went
Argh, argh, argh, argh, argh, argh. argh, argh argh argh argh argh

Like all the thrashers before me, Pantera made me feel so grand
Like all the metals heads above me I took a rebellious stand
Dimebag was just taking the stage but this crazy ex marine laid him in his grave
I swear by the blood flowing round my feet
You can't rise up a Dimebag when he's dead

The night I shot old Dimebag down and all the thrashers were screaming
The night I shot old Dimebag down and the metal heads where freaking, they went
Argh, argh, argh, argh, argh, argh. argh, argh, argh, argh, argh, argh

I didn't want to give you ones, 'cause that's just not nice. But psychos gunning down people isn't at all funny and your pacing was awful in spots.

December 8th was also the date of John Lennon's assassination

Yes I agree this is not that funny and i felt uncomfortable about writing it and posting it. If the guy that did the shootings had a sense of humor about himself and life in general then he would never have taken the path he chose. Perhaps we all need to know that the person next to us or the total stranger could be that very same guy. How do we break down the walls and reach people like that? Walk a mile in thier shoes and guess what? you just might see some small part of yourself in him and wonder what twists and turns in the path could have put you in his situation...

Sory, this song was a bit sick. Dimebag meant something to a lot of people. Maybe in time, it would be different, but it is too soon now.

I can see what you are trying to do with this, much like Steve Earle's "John Walker Blues" from 2 years ago. Problem is, you didn't really do much into having Nathan "explain" his actions, so it does't really justify the song or its intent.
