[SUNK WRECKS]

Episode MCMLXXV, NO HOPE

It is her route like ever before. The “Mighty Fitz“, rendezvousing with the freighter Arthur M. Anderson, sets a course down Lake Superior unaware if an impending storm.

They took a downbound route, even as the sinister storm began to hit with 60 mph winds and ten foot waves. Fitz pulls away ahead 16 miles with low visibility due to snow as Anderson slows.

Assaulted by 67 mph winds and 25 foot waves, Fitz loses both her radars and starts to list. Frantically the USCG is called, but it is too late. By 7:10 pm the following day her last words were, “We are holding our own.” She sinks just minutes later….

[Instrumental}
