The Lyrics

For those unsure of this song, it charted in 1978 and then again in 1992 as part of the sound track to the movie 'Strictly Ballroom' .
Gum stuck in my hair
Will I ever get it out
Gum stuck in my hair
I'll just try and wrench it, ouch !

And I'm still wonderin' how it got there
How on earth it came entwined
But it's one big hairy matted globule
And oh boy I'm in a huge bind

Gum stuck in my hair
I might have to cut it out
Gum stuck in my hair
I just wanna scream and shout

I've got a hot date with Mr Dreamboat
Don't know if I'll be right
But I just gotta get this darn gum out
Before he comes on over tonight

(Chorus)
Gum stuck in my hair
Drives me to dispair
Oh oh oh
Oh oh no

Gum stuck in my hair
How could I've been so dumb
This just isn't fair
Oh lordy what have I done

Now I'm rifling through the ol' pantry
Don't have nothing else to lose
Might try a good dab of peanut butter
And maybe that might work it loose

Gum stuck in my hair
Every piece and every strand
Now my date won't want to even know me
When he spys this matted mess

So I'm dashing off to see dear darling Regis
May he take pity on my tortured tress

(Chorus repeat x3 )
Gum stuck in my hair
Driven to dispair
Oh oh oh
Oh oh no

Holy Bubbalicious Andy! "Matted globule" was a nice affect. I second Pippin's sentiment that this was a good effort from a beginner.

I've got to know: did the peanut butter work for getting the chewing gum out? ISTM that the cure could be worse than the complaint, though...

Another good first parody - the competition's starting to hot up, isn't it?

It honestly worked a treat..........but yes, I spent the next few days trying to wash the stuff out ! Not to mention reeking of peanuts !!! Thank you Phil for your encouraging words too, though I don't think you have to worry about me. ; )

Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on your head most every night? Love your internal rhyme and clever lyrics. Great first song. I'll be looking for more of your work. Keep it up, you get 5 bazooka joe's for this fine effort!
