The Lyrics

This is a role-reversal parody. After hearing Jim Croce's "Roller Derby Queen", and Leon Russell's "Queen of the Roller Derby", it occurred to me that this might twist "Someday Soon" pretty well.
There's a young gal that I know whose age is twenty-one
Comes from down in southern California
She joined the roller derby ‘cause she's lookin' for her fun
Someday soon, goin' with her someday soon

My parents can not stand her 'cause she skates the roller derby
My mama says that she will leave me with the kids,
I would follow her around, the toughest rink I know
Someday soon, goin' with her someday soon

But when she comes to call, my ma ain't got a good word to say
Guess it's 'cause she's just as wild in her younger days

So roll, you Roller Derby queens, roll my love to me
She's skatin' there tonight in California
She loves the roller derby game, as much as she loves me
Someday soon, goin' with her someday soon
