The Lyrics

Did you see the east go black that Manhattan mess?
Looks like doom scare anew causing mass distress.
Grid down, a network affair,
Of the kind that goes leapin' from square to square.
Grid down, It's hard to repair,
Hard to find, start to sweepin' downed jacked up ware.

They were lookin' out in Queens for that failure stream.
It can go quite a way as it spills the beans.
Bum times the link is so lame,
When we get wheelin' threaders that can't deal with the strain.
Some lines can't sync up the same,
When the code isn't dealin' better with the drops and the gains.

You can stricture any boob; backup plan's unbaked.
There are costs they keep shovin' back, give me a break.
Run down, and out of repair,
When the grind has been heapin' tons and tons of wear.
Down times we better beware,
Think a new deal's beginning and we're snoozin' again.

Gotta start to lookin' past these cascading scenes.
Be on guard provin' game plans will be wheelin' keen.
Some signs will blink to proclaim,
'fore the threat peels our leather and it's stoppin' the train.
Grid down, we better beware,
We may find that we're spinnin' into dark despair.

Grid down, we better beware,
We may find that we're spinnin' into dark despair.
Bum times get under our skin,
If we think we're not winnin' cause we're snoozin' again.

Excellent parody! I love the choice of words, especially since I work in the electrical industry. All fives!

Allow me to congratulate you on an excellent job, Guy!

So, It's you huh Bubba? You threw the switch just to get us all to write about the blackout. LOL. So was I sort of technically accurate on how I described the cascade effect accross computer systems and other infrastructure on and between grids? I don't even pretend to know how all that works but I do have an idea how the computers, routers and the like interplay with the overall management of it all.

Great job Guy!

I'd just like to point out: Unlike the last two major blackouts (1965 and 1977), this one happened during a Republican Administration, and was bigger than the other two!

Technical stuff that I can't understand always makes me laugh! :-D

Ditto all above with a special emphasis on the fact that Michael is right - yours is bigger.

Well, while I do work in the electrical industry...I work as a computer help desk analyst at a commercial nuclear power plant...I'm not exactly an expert in electrical distribution. Like you, I know more about the computers and routers than anything else. However, I've been around the people that are experts in such things, and that's the lingo that they speak. I know that when power plants come on-line, they have to "sync to the grid." Sounded excellent to me.

Bubba - Thought you were a techie. You knew what Edlin was. I used to work Helpdesk a few years ago. I do enterprise admin and email and message system admin now. You should do some parodies on the idiots that call helpdesks. I may do one of those. Hey, do you work with Homer Simpson? LOL. That grid downage must be a real bear to get over. It is such a paradox when the computers need the grid for power and the grid needs the computers to run it. It is no wonder it took so long to get this thing back online. This was the whole point of this parody.
