Lately I’m aggrieved
It’s intensified
It’s a pestilence of politics and the party pride

Won’t indulge in all the hype
Who is right and who is wrong
Where’s the calm
Where’s the humor in the song?

I hear attacks
So out of place
It’s like something slipped a gear
I found such anger, all misplaced
I sure do miss the clever talk
I sure do miss the rhyming schemes
With the righties and the lefties
Hefting barbs in the extreme

Hear me now
And I do implore
Just find a pun now
Cause that’s the thing I came here for
I love the songs on burping and the tata’s bouncing by
But I hear grumbles
It’s like the humor up and died

So why you try,
Try to divide?
As long as we know how to laugh
We’ll be happy till we die.
We’ve got reason to be glib
We’ve got subjects to go rib
So why divide?
Oh, why divide?

I’m sad that your beliefs
Require poison darts
Write something that ascends
On subjects from buffoons to farts
And there are oh so many bites
Just waiting for the proper song
I say “Now write.”
And to the venom, say ‘so long.’

If you vote three
Or maybe two
Your votes are welcome anytime
You adolescent you!
Or if you feel like dropping bombs
When our opinions disagree
I don’t care you silly person
It’s just good publicity!

So now
Should I say more?
We’ve had our pow wow
And out there, quips must be explored.
I’m certainly no stranger to a righteous diatribe.
But I’m so humble…
Okay, that ‘humble’ is a lie!

So why not try
Try to subscribe
To the mirth, a blessing from above,
That sparkle in one’s eye.
Don’t be pokey, dance a jig
‘Cause there is humor you should give
Don’t divide.
Let’s not divide.
And don’t be snide.
