The Lyrics

A series created by Stephen Cannell,
I was always a big fan of it
About four Viet Nam vets, sent to prison accused
Of a robbery they didn't commit

They were crack team commandos, and all on the run
Helped the needy, and moved like the wind
Lots of action and fun from the start to the end,
Oh, I Wish There Was A-Team, Again

Oh, I Wish There Was A-Team, Again..
Weaving magic those old shows could spin
God bless the Eighties, life was innocent then..
I Wish There Was A-Team, Again..

(Instrumental break)

Time will fast forward, but unlike VCR's
It won't pause, or rewind yesterday
The young in the fast lane will not understand,
When old men, like me, we still say..

Oh, I Wish There Was A-Team, Again
Spinning magic those old shows could spin
God bless the Eighties..life was innocent then..
I Wish There Was A-Team, Again

The show..starring George Peppard, Mr. T, Robert Vaughn, Eddie Velez, Dirk Benedict, and others..ended on December 30, 1986, after a run of 98 episodes. The team was wrongfully convicted of robbing gold bullion from the "Bank Of Hanoi", but when you consider that Mr. T wore between 35 and 40 pounds of gold on each show, it makes you wonder... A show reunion had been considered, but the idea was scrapped after George Peppard died.

Ah, a tribute to one of my favorite shows. I am a bit rusty on my A-Team knowledge, but didn't only 3 get court-marshalled ( Murdoc ( played by Dwight Shultz ) was unknown as far as I remember to Col. Decker as a criminal )? Also, DKTOS but I will trust you on the pacing and 555 this. These guys were MacGuyver before that show even started. Thier aim was horrible though. They couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, but if they had a barn they could turn it into a tank. :)

Thanks, Red....the series ended almost twenty years ago, and I'll admit my memory on that isn't too good either, so I freshened it up by visiting the A-Team website, and there it says four were wrongly accused....True, the show was low-key mild, and kinda' far fetched, but that was "The 80's" for ya'....it says no-one was ever killed in all 98 episodes....And any "Drugs" were referred to as, "Stuff".

If I recall correctly, Dirk Benedict wasn't the original "Face Man". The pilot had a different actor, but he just wasn't right for the part.

Thanks, Rex, and true....Tim Dunigan was the original...in the pilot episode, only...thereafter, Dirk.

I pity the fool who liked that garbage show. I pity the fool.

FAn of the sitcoms from ghe '70s and '80s more than action shows, but agree with the pining for a more innocent time; actually wanted to see if there was any with the song because in honor of baseball season starting again I was thinking of a funny little addition. We'll see if I have time to put it together.

The A-Team was quite campy fun. If I recall Murdock was a "fake lunatic" but he was often in a ward and the others needed to help him escape, many times. Mr. T became a pop culture icon in his right. Also, the show was still airing in December 1987, I remember that well but I don't remember how the series finale went. I know for sure that it was better than the finales for Seinfeld and Friends and even Cheers (and I really loved that show!).
