The Lyrics

My commentary on the Massachusetts special election for the U.S. Senate cannot be called "Wednesday morning quarterbacking"! I put it off until Thursday...I'm always procrastinating. This election may go down as the biggest miracle since the 1969 New York Mets. ;D

Blunder of blunders, big upset of big upsets!
Coakley was tapped for Teddy's seat,
Thought she'd win easy - idiot of idiots.
She took them down to defeat.

Blunder of blunders, idiot of idiots!
Dear Coakley ran a bad campaign.
Ran like she'd won, insulted her constituents.
Strategy? No, just insane.

When Coakley trashed the Red Sox fans, that was a bonehead play.
When she said she'd ram through all the health care plans, that was a bonehead play too.
But in the end it didn't matter much
'Cause she and her party were out of touch,
And the gaff that finally sealed her luck
Was when Obama bashed Brown's truck!

Blunder of blunders, big upset of big upsets!
Bay State could not go G.O.P.
John Kerry, Barney Frank, and all's what we saw.
Democratic dynasty!

When Barack's magic didn't work, that was significant.
When they couldn't show Brown as a right wing jerk, that was significant too.
But the loudest of messages sent that day
Is that "Hope And Change" can work both ways!
No more dirty dealing back room stuff!
Just one year - we've had enough!

As Bobby Fischer might have said to Boris Spassky, "O.K., it's your move!" ;D

Great one, OMR! I reiterate my response to TT yesterday, that all their hope and dreams that day went right into the Chappaquiddick!!

I listened to the OS the first time and loved it! Hmmmm...how about that? A Republican senator! I happened to catch a little on that article on : http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/19/polls-close-competitive-massachusetts-senate-race/. That was a great commentary that you made on the Big Upset, especially through parody! 5's.

She must have thought she had it made so she coasted.

Nice work OMR, the smart money saw that upset coming. Change is indeed a two-way street.

I *love* the OS choice, and the re-work. Typically well-crafted-- filled with charm and cleverness from beginning to end!

Ingenious OS choice, and pretty much nailed all of the pertinent points. Vote: Coakley 44.5%, Ribber 55.5%.

(hope you get a chance to see our follow-up on the event, posted the same day as this. No obligation, though-- have always appreciated your "patronage" ;)

Get the feeling that even liberal states have had enough? I was so glad that he won, helped along by their 'bonehead' comments. Good parody!!
