Song Parodies -> "Don't Let the Son Go Back to DC"

Original Song Title:

"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"

Original Performer:

Elton John and Bernie Taupin

Parody Song Title:

"Don't Let the Son Go Back to DC"

Parody Written by:

Robert J. Pagliaro

The Lyrics

I want light, no more of his darkness
Prison pictures deem to fade the red and white
I'm growing tired and pine for days of glory
Prose of fear from the party on the right

Too late to save those lives from falling
You took a chance and changed their way of life
And you misled our being in Iraq too
Chose the war and left me blinded by the fight

Don't let The Son Go Back To DC
Although besmirched by wealth, there's always someone like Kerry
Dismiss, Dis'vow this Zealot from your life and his Vee Pee
Risk losing everything, by lettin' the Son go back to DC

He can't find, oh the right Socratic mind
'Cuz he's a dunce, the 'lection he did steal
So discard he just because I think he means you harm
Such distrust I have and need John to take the wheel

Don't let The Son Go Back To DC
Although besmirched by wealth, there's always someone like Kerry
Dismiss, Dis'vow this Zealot from your life and his Vee Pee
Risk losing everything, by lettin' the Son go Back to DC

Don't let The Son Go back To DC
Although besmirched by wealth, there's always someone like Kerry
Dismiss, Dis'vow this Zealot from your life and his Vee Pee
Risk losing everything, by lettin' the Son go Back to DC

I enjoy parodying Elton John and Bernie Taupin, their songs are so smooth and lyrical.

Thanks all. Gilligan, you may not have read some other people on this site who are more qualified for that title, but thank you. JD, don't have much experience with EJ/BT parodies, but I can tell you seeing him in the 70s (Garden) and late 80s (SPAC) - it was quite a show. Later, bob

Elton John is Captain Fantastic, Georgie Bush is the Brown Dirt Cowboy. And even in the frilliest, gayest outfit, Elton is twice the man Georgie is. Though I'm not sure Elton was a bigger cokehead.
