"The Day My RAM Chip Died"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

written for a song contest for a free stick of RAM at macrumors
A long, long time ago,
But I can still remember
A GUI was ahead by a mile
But I knew if i wanted more programs
I would need a bigger chip of ram
But 512 was only plenty for a while

But January made me shiver,
1MB Apple delivered
'Twas even upgradable
In an comp. change the RAM's savable!

I can't remember why I buyed
But I read about the big floppy drive!
But something I shocked deep inside
The day my RAM chip died.

*Chorus*

So I--I'm a mac-addicted guy
Drive my Pinto to the 'pple store to give the macs a test drive
But good ol' RAM is what I really like
Singing "glad i got my Mac by my side"
"glad i got my Mac by my side"

Have you read the user's guides
for the Apple II through the iMac G5?
Something tells me that's not so
Now, is a one button mouse the way to go?
Do you that people who use windows are slow?
Can you teach me how to add RAM like a pro?

Well, I know I'm in love with them
I took a pb100 to my prom at the gym
I gave her some more RAM,
Man, I dig that Mail filter for spam!

I was a lonely teenage computer geek
With a computer magazine at my door every week
But I knew I had to be careful with electricity
The day my RAM chip died

I started singing

*Chorus*

For a score of years we've been on our own,
Not needing those damned PC clones,
And that's how it'll always be!
When two Steves had a brilliant idea,
They thought different from most engineers,
And revolutionized the industry!

And while big blue was looking down,
The two Steves stole his thorny crown
The competition still raged,
Then came along that damned Bill Gates

And while I added some more RAM
To my Kihei I said "Oh *** damn"
"I knocked over my trusty TAM"
The day my RAM chip died

We were singing

*Chorus*

Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
In came the 17" imac and I ran for the shelter
Of the nearest Apple Store
It took 20 minutes, maybe more
To add money--even more
To the pile the two Steves had amassed.

Now, the keynote air was sweet perfume
While Jobsie talked a boring tune,
We all got up to leave,
But we never took the liberty,
'Cause the G5 tried to take the lead
Of the pro market--would it succeed?
Should I have used an anti-static sleeve
The day my RAM chip died?

We started singing

*Chorus*

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A coffee shop in a mall rental space
With no wifi connection to surf with!!
So come on Bob be nimble,
Bob be slick
Bob get to a hotspot quick
Because you need watch the evil Gates 'note!

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell

And as the Longhorn was debuted
I needed a new Mac so I could be soothed!
I broke 6 keys of my iBook
The day my RAM chip died

He was singing

*Chorus*

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news...
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd bought an Apple years before
But the man there said Microsoft was the way

And in the streets the children screamed
As Big Bill patched them with vaccines
He'd turned America to heck
I needed more RAM for the last Mac

And all the men I admire most
The guys at Macrumors weren't sayin w00t!
A bad stick made my Mac not boot
The day my RAM chip died

And they were singing

So I--I'm a mac-addicted guy
Drive my Pinto to the 'pple store to give the macs a test drive
But good ol' RAM is what I really like
Singing "glad i got my Mac by my side"
"glad i got my Mac by my side"

So I--I'm a mac-addicted guy
Drive my Pinto to the 'pple store to give the macs a test drive
But good ol' RAM is what I really like
Singing "glad i got my Mac by my side"
"glad i got my Mac by my side"
