The Lyrics

This idea only came to me today, a couple of hours before game seven between Boston and Vancouver. I only had time to do the first two verses. Maybe when the game is over I'll write the last two ... if Vancouver wins.
Canuck
Hockey night
Paint our faces blue and green

Cheer Vancouver’s hockey team
With hearts that feel the
Hope within our souls
Marching in a throng
Hundred twenty thousand strong

This is where we all belong

Bright colours on a sunny Georgia Street
And now it’s fin’ly here, what we’ve waited for so long

Forty years of mediocrity
Are now so much history
When the siren sounds
We will all look up

Vancouver’s Stanley Cup

Canuck
Hockey night
Beer and hi-def TV screens

No-one else knows what it means to see our
Team step on the ice tonight
Anticipation grows
Stand up, one and all alike

Donelly steps to the mike
“O Canada, our home and
Native land”
And we all understand, what we’ve waited for so long

Forty years of mediocrity
Are now so much history
Vancouver’s Stanley Cup

Guess you can put the kibosh on the last two verses,

Well the Canucks blew it and the fans rioted.

@Ouch - maybe, maybe not ... I just need to find rhymes for "hooligans", "troublemakers", "idiots", "boneheads", and "jackasses". @Max - half right, my friend. The Canucks blew it, but it certainly wasn't any fan of the team that started the riot. It was gangs of idiots who came prepared with hammers and gasoline, with no intention of doing anything other than causing trouble. The true fans (2,000 of them) were out at 5:30 this morning with brooms and bins, cleaning up the mess.
