The Lyrics

The original song speaks of a real nightmare, one nocturnal, tangible, smoky, and burning. But, by definition, because it speaks of something fairly commonplace, it isn't a true nightmare. I hope this one IS such a thing.
We all got grinning toothless,
It was another Geneva nightmare. (2)
Falling down and falling around,
It was dark there, and we did not care.
Steven King thought he'd write our way,
but it got too scary for HIM.
But then, it went ballistic, oh,
Time failed; it was wearing thin.

Hands out for slaughter,
Lies begin to fly.
Hunting for a daughter...

Our world imploded with a flash of light,
the sound came back with a roar,
A creature now come from a nether world
It shook us all down to our core.
This had become a permanent thing,
Booze's continual ebb and flow
Gone mental, insanity now ran amok --
Minds caught in the undertow.

Hands out for slaughter,
Lies begin to fly.
Hunting for a daughter...

Finally buried in a screaming heap,
Awaking in a chill cold sweat,
Hunting for the day that had gone to waste,
We are still looking for it yet.
But there's some few dead notices
In the paper, plastered 'round
Strange calls blasting into the phone --
The worst to come, cops never around
And we know we are not alone!

Aliens come to slaughter,
Rushing in the sky
Aliens come to slaughter...
1) The title comes from a long-vanished episode of "The Twilight Zone". 2) The original name for what is now called 'Gin' in many parts of the world.

"To Serve Man" (It's a cookbook!). The most famous episode of all time. Have you ever heard Pat Boone's rendition of "Smoke on the Water"? I never really understood the words til I heard him sing it. A couple years ago someone wanted to stage a Guiness Record stunt at the baseball stadium in Kansas City, Kansas: the most guitarists in one place playing "Smoke on the Water". I wanted to take part. I don't have a guitar, but I do have a flare gun. They didn't think that was funny.
