Lots of votes but no comments. I've heard there were at least two police officers killed, along with other deaths in the crowd on the lawn. No details on MSM forthcoming. The media still remembers the woman run down by a car during one of the first Confederate statue riots. They never mention the two highway patrol officers who died that day in a helicopter crash while watching over the crowd. It's harder than ever to get the straight story on anything. Giving guns to semi-trained cops or guardsmen then surrounding them with threatening mobs is a receipe for trouble. We're bound for more trouble. The suit and tie tour guides are going to be replaced with shave-headed steroid stormtroopers in black armor and helmets. No average citizen will ever want to run the gauntlet to visit the Capitol again. Congressmen and their staffs will feel more important.

On the contrary, I heard plenty about Ashli Babbitt on the MSM, as well as about Brian Sicknick, the Capitol cop, a Trump supporter, who was bludgeoned to death while defending the Capitol. In fact, the New York Times and the Washington Post ran articles about Ashli Babbitt about a week ago, before this parody was written. I haven't yet learned the names of the other three or four people who died, who suffered medical emergencies during the incident. If Ashli were your sister, you would mourn her. No matter what. Good or bad. You'd mourn her because she was one of you. If you are White, or a Trump supporter, or a right-winger who believes this election was stolen, you may feel that Ashli is one of you. If Breonna Taylor were your sister, you would mourn her. No matter what. Good or bad. You would mourn her because she was one of you. If you are Black or Brown, or sympathetic to POC, or upset about unarmed POC being shot or choked to death by police, you may feel that Breonna is one of you. Suppose a woman robs a bank because that bank denied her a loan. The police chase her car and shoot her dead. Suppose across town, a different woman is pulled over for a broken taillight. She reaches for her driver's license. The cops shoot her dead. I would feel sad for the first woman, and outraged over the second. I agree that, unless she was carrying a weapon, Ashli didn't have to be shot, but she broke into a federal building and breached a barricade. Breonna was asleep in her apartment when cops went to the wrong house--and apparently didn't identify themselves--tried to break in, and her boyfriend defended their home against an assumed burglary by firing a shot, and the police let out a barrage of gunfire, killing Breonna. Now ask yourself: how many cases are like Ashli's, and how many cases are like Breonna's? Both these women were killed by cops, under very different circumstances. Both are our sisters in humanity, our very distant cousins. You may feel closer to one than to the other, and that's okay. Yet one was breaching a high-security building trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power. The other was at home asleep. Say their names.
