Parody Song Title:

"Hokey Wolf And Ding-A-Ling"

Parody Written by:

Hokey Wolf and his sidekick Ding-A-Ling were the stars of a featured cartoon on the Huckleberry Hound show, created by Hanna Barbera. "Hokey" sounds just like "Hokie", the knickname of Virginia Tech. This one is somewhat auto-biographical. (Words in parentheses are spoken)
When I was a little bitty boy
The TV was my favorite toy
Two critters from the cartoon king
Were Hokey Wolf and Ding-A-Ling-A-Ling

Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling

When I was little boy in grammar school
All day long I'd obey the rules
Run home when the bell would ring
So I could watch Hokey Wolf and Ding-A-Ling

Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling

(mm mm, now that's just beautiful)

Two members of the lupine race
Slipped and fell, each onto his face
They hit so hard they heard birds sing
But up sprang Hokey Wolf and Ding-A-Ling

Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling

(I just heard two girls
right over there singing in harmony
go ahead, it's a free country)

I went to college at Virginia Tech
We're all Hokies, what the heck
That name is found on everything
But nothing's named after Ding-A-Ling-A-Ling

Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling

(there are some of you out there who just aren't singing,
a few down here in the front row.
This next verse is for those of you who won't sing)

Now this parody it ain't so bad
Just a little song, won't make you mad
And those of you who will not sing
Didn't watch Hokey and Ding-A-Ling-A-Ling

Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
Hokey Wolf is sly, Ding-A-Ling

No Ding-A-Ling, no Ding-A-Ling
You had no Hokey nor Ding-A-Ling
Hi, Ding-A-Ling, everybody sing
I want to watch Hokey and Ding-A-Ling
Everybody, hi, Ding-A-Ling, bye, Ding-A-Ling
(everybody slow down)
Hokey Wolf, goodbye, Ding-A-Ling
I think Chuck Berry came out with the original around 1973, when he was pretty much a nostalgia act. However, his earlier material helped make rock and roll what it is.
