The Lyrics

Youtube HERE for a listen to the OS of "Smackwater Jack" by Carol King.

A fly swatter smack,
Will get the job done.
When flies get near my food,
With their little buzz gyrations.
My swatter gets a lot of use,
Keep them bugs off of my produce,
And on away from my orange juice.
Go and swat down the infestation.

You don't mess with this man,
With a fly swat in his hand. (fly swat)

My, Slim JimsĀ® and cheese,
They love to bother.
I catch them off guard each one,
Then I mount the slaughter.
They fly in full shock rouse,
As my swatter rocks the house.
Off each fly, they try to hide,
I clean up the fleet,
Take their lives with my swatter. (Oh no - oh oh no)

All these flies I can't stand,
With my swatter I'm in command.
Wo, wo, wo, wo, wo.

I can't count all get captured,
On that fly-stick paper.
So I go and bang and smack them dead,
Each swat I savor.
You know the evil flies got squeezed,
As I out draw them with ease.
And the death toll it was very severe,
As each met his maker.

You know, you know, you don't squat on this man,
With a swatter in his hand.
A swatter in his hand. (fly swatter smack, yeah!)
Fly swatter smack got the job done.
Yeah, fly swatter smack got the job done.
Oh fly swatter smack, yeah. (fly swatter smack, yeah!)
Talkin' 'bout fly swatter smack, yeah. (Ooooh, just watch him swat one)
Talkin' 'bout a-fly swatter smack, now. (Oooooooooh)
Talkin' 'bout smack get the job done.
Talkin' 'bout flack,
Talkin' 'bout smack,
Fly swatter smack, yeah!

Be careful! :) With that OS and the EXCELLENT way that you put in words (catchiness followed exactly), you're going to chase my blues away. :) Loved it!! FIVES

Pat -Glad yoou enjoed it. Thanks!

Alvin - Thanks - I like writing mayhem.

M'Lady - I treasure your comment. And yes it could make for an interesting computer game - it could be made like that old game "Paper Boy". Thanks.

Pip - It has to do with that line in the parody where I savor each swat.. I'm addicted to killing small pesky insects. Hi - I'm Guy and I'm an entomologoholic. Come into my parlor said the swatter to the fly. Muhahahahahahaha. Thanks, Pip.

SOTM - Now this was a summer feel parody for sure, and I swear that just this morning I was thinking of doing something like "I swat the flies - and I like it" to that Katy Perry song that is so popular right now. Timely handcraftmanship here Guy, 555.

I know, still didn't believe bugs including mosquitos have purpose aside from torturing us. 555 bugs to kill as it is.

(SOTM) This is pretty good. 555

Ooh. This is simply amazing. I love the theme. Bugs can be really annoying- it's always good to cover up the food/drink so that the bugs don't get at it.

(SOTM) This was cute. That's what I think, just cute...good subs throughout, paced great etc. I recently viewed on DVD some footage of Carol King's musical contributions to Maurice Sendak's works, which I think colors my impressions of this song against this parody. Not in a negative way, I hope you understand.

(SOTM) Like Agri, I think this was cute. Not an explosion of LOL, but very funny nonetheless. Gotta love swattin' flies. 5's for you!

A good song that I could relate to, and I echo Agri and Conq's comments. Fun summer song that I enjoyed!

Thanks for the YouTube link - it was most helpful. Great rhymes and 'conversational grammar', fits TOS well and pretty funny to boot. This would be great to hear or perform at karaoke night. Fly-fly-fly.

(SOTM) Good idea to this OS. I think you were a little lose on your pacing, but it could be worked (it's one of those songs that are a bit flexible in that regard).

(SOTM) Funny idea Guy. Also, great job following the odd meter/rhyme scheme of the OS.
You do have a "style", Guy, that is unique. I sometimes think of the word "Guyspeak" when I read your parodies. I mean that as a compliment.
