"Take The Piss Out Of Me (Ming's Farewell)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A farewell to Menzies (pronounced "Mingis") Campbell, 66-year-old (ex-)leader of the Liberal Democrats. He never really had a chance, when all the media wanted to ask him about was how old he was; and how gleefully they misreported what his colleagues said. But somehow I doubt he'd sing this, given that he has been described as being the most dignified member of the Commons...
Though it hurts to go away
It's impossible to stay
But there's one thing I must say
Before I go:
I'm not old (He's not old)
It's true
For in twenty years time
I will still be in my prime

But they thought it all the rage
To go on about my age
How I wished they'd turn the page
But would they? No
The bastards! (They're bastards!)
The press
They trivialize politics
Don't you know they get their kicks
Taking the

Piss out of me
Taking the piss out of me
Low polls, Menzies, low polls
So old, Menzies, so old
My career is at stake
But you know that they'll still take
The

Piss out of me
They take the piss out of me
It's wrong Simon, it's wrong
Come on, Vincent, come on:
Don't you dare me to stay
'Cause the Press will have its way:

For the LibDems have a need
For a leader who can lead
It's charisma, not ideas, the people see
It's silly (so silly)
But true
I know it's a mistake
But those journalists still take
The

Piss out of me
Taking the piss out of me
Defy media? Why try
I don't need 'ya, bye bye
Gonna walk out that door
So that they will take no more

Piss out of me
They take the piss out of me
All told, really low polls
Too old, really? Too old
But it makes my head ache
The incessant way they take
The

Piss out of me
They take the piss out of me
Bye bye, party, bye bye
Don't cry, LibDems, don't cry
Oh, why must they take the piss?
When I'm only sixty-six...

He may have only been 66, Phil, but he looked and sounded at least 10 years older. Think they'll let Charley K have another crack? Nah....;-) 555
