The Lyrics

Revised from yesterday
The football fans came down toward Tampa Bay
The men in blue won't go away
I looked across and there I saw Scottie
Waiting to go and face the line
And with the world upon his shoulder
There's a headcoach named Marv Levy
From what I know the game is on the line
And through the roars I heard him say

Scottie, please be a hero, this is the game of your life
Scottie, please be a hero, kick one and win one for life
And as he started to go he said, Scottie, don't let it blow
Scottie, please be a hero, win one for me

The men in blue have fought to a standstill
The Giants leading all around
Then Levy cried, We've got to hang on, Bills!
We've got to beat their lead to ground
I need a placekicker to come up
And win the game at the final moment
And Scottie's kick was good for a moment
But then all of a sudden...

They said
Scottie, please be an hero, you are a fool with your life
Scottie, please be an hero, go home and die with your wife
And as he started to cry Marv said, Scottie, your life is low
Scottie, please be an hero, because you blow

I heard his family got a letter
That told how Scottie died that day
The letter said that he was an hero
They should be proud he died that way
I heard they threw that letter away ...
An Hero: To kill yourself for a stupid reason

Nice job. I have noticed your parodies are no longer being hammered with 1s. Perhaps the person doing that got bored and moved on.

At first I thought the title would be about Scottie from Star Trek. Great job on covering Scott Norwood

Max. This is a great song. You make a great parodist but you're still no.3 on the list of greatest parodists ever but that's better than RedAnt and Agri- those two are no.4 and no.5, Agri is in last place. But no pressure, you keep on doing what you do best.

Dear Master Of Oz, If Max Power is the third greatest parodist ever as you so bluntly put it, why does he always come rock bottom of the SOTM contests?!

Ah, I remember this game well, good job putting it into prose!

SOTM - This actually makes a little story and although I'm not in the loop on the subject I'd say that's a step forward (again).

It's about a kicker who missed a game winning score.

I actually kinda understand what you're talking about with this one... I haven't seen the game, because I'm not a fan of sports, but understanding what you're talking about is a step in the right direction.

(SOTM) Poor Scottie. He and Rex G. should start a Loser's Club, I guess.

(SOTM) Uh... football, that's, uh, that's the one with the pins, right? ;) Nice job.

(SOTM-Aug-08)

He missed the kick because he had athlete's foot - if it were closer to Christmas he may have had a missile-toe.

Emi - I'm not sure what it is but I think it is either football or golf - both have tees.

(SOTM) Max, you really need to write about something that everybody can understand. One too many parodies of yours have comments along the lines of "I don't know what this is about" or "A bit too over my head" or other things along those lines. Not saying that the parody itself wasn't good, but try and expand into other topics.

(SOTM) Well, I saw a few things that could be worked on, but all and all Max, this was actually pretty well done. This song is far more catchy than your normal selections, and your pacing was much tighter than what I'm used to from you, still have some work to do, but you are on the right track. I thought taking on a sport theme to this song worked because it's a pretty fun twist on TOS. . .not bad Max!

Commented above, I did get something out of this since I knew what it was about like I said.

What can I say? I'm disappointed it's not about Star Trek ;-) Still, it's a good story parody about a sport in which I have (let's face it) zero interest.
