The Lyrics

A story of a American Football placekicker who missed a game winning field goal at the 1991 Super Bowl.
The football fans came down toward Tampa Bay
The men in blue won't go away
I looked across and there I saw Norwood
Waiting to go and face the line
And with the world upon his shoulder
There's a headcoach named mark Levy
From what I know the game is on the line
And through the roars I heard him say

Norwood, please be a hero, this is the game of your life
Norwood, please be a hero, kick one and win one for life
And as he started to go he said, Norwood, don't let it blow
Norwood, please be a hero, win one for me

The men in blue have fought to a standstill
The Giants leading all around
Then Levy cried, We've got to hang on, Bills!
We've got to beat their lead to ground
I need a placekicker to come up
And win the game at the final moment
And Norwood's kick was good for a moment
But then all of a sudden...

Fans said
Norwood, please be an hero, you are a fool with your life
Norwood, please be an hero, go home and die with your wife
And as he started to cry Bill [Levy] said, Norwood, your life is low
Norwood, please be an hero, because you blow

I heard his family got a letter
That told how Norwood died that day
The letter said that he was an hero
They should be proud he died that way
I heard they threw that letter away ...
I chose Bo Donaldson's verson despite the fact the lyrics are the same, it's just that the tune are more upbeat.

I didn't notice the error until you pointed it out. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
