"Four Hundred Years"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Four Hundred Songs"

Parody Written by:

Susanna Viljanen

The Lyrics

Whoa! My 400th parody! There appears to be several versions of this song around with several different lyrics, and this spoof is on one of those.
Four hundred songs (400 songs, 400 songs. Wo-o-o-o)
And soon some more here -
Four hundred songs;
(400 songs, 400 songs. Wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o)
in these past eight years
Now some of them are bad, (wo-o-o-o) some are good, I can say
But the score of four hundred songs will break today -

Come on, let's make a spoof:
(make a spoof, make a spoof, wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o)
of your (wo-o-o-o) fav- (wo-o-o-o) - ourite song,
And if the words are neat
(words are neat, words are neat. Wo-o-o-o)
The parody (wo-o-o-o) is gonna be fun.
So, won't you sing with me;
I'll take the artist's liberty
at Am-I-Right we write - spoof, a good, good song
And do it free -

Four hundred songs, (400 songs, 400 songs) -
So many done! (wo-o-o-o)
That's the reason we're here (wo-o-o-o) - all of us are here.
Done, it's four hundred whole songs - (400 songs, 400 songs Wo-o-o-o)
Give me topic (wo-o-o-o) - and I'll write parody

It's been 400 songs, (400 songs, 400 songs)
So many songs! Wo-o-o-o, wo-o-o-o.
How many? 400 songs, songs spoofed

Thanks :-) Royce Miller was my great inspiration, and she did 546 parodies before she passed away - I hope I can one day attain her score.

Looks like I'm going to drop a few more places on the Author list pretty soon ...
Congrats! Did you do parodies for 100, 200, and 300 also, as this writer did?

Royce was a fine role model, but I'd hope you'd strive for her quality, not quantity. Some with parodies in the thousands aren't very good. Hope you're not planning on leaving us for another 55.5 years or so.

Tommy, we all miss Royce sorely. There are not too many women here, and Royce was the best of us. I wish I could attain her standards. I admit many of my own songs are crap, but I also feel I have succeeded on some. By the way, how do you make a line break? < n > or < br > HTML tags do not succeed.

As you asked Tommy, I should let him respond I suppose, but < BR > works for me, < BR >< BR > for para, but hard-up, i.e.with no spaces. Of course I couldn't use the correct hard-up version here. (He took the trouble to teach me that, for which I'm grateful). I use a Mac so I don't know if that makes a difference. You can verify it in preview mode on the 'submit parody' page. Sounds like I'll have to delve in to Royce's back catalogue some time.

Susanna, due to some unique coding on this site, only upper case BR works. Lower case doesn't. Strange.
It's hard enough to learn English as a second language, being so complicated due to a mixture of Greek, Latin/Romance, and Teutonic influences. Internally, each of those is more consistent. E. g., Spanish and German have different parents, but each was internally consistent; hence not hard to learn. Writing comedy and parody would be even more challenging. Given that additional challenge, I think you do very well most of the time -- and your English is excellent.

@Lifeliver: it doesn't matter what operating system is used, including Linux-based. A sitemaster may have to make certain changes to code for Internet Explorer versus other browsers, because Microsoft refuses to adhere to internationally-accepted standards, but your browser type and version is sent to the site anyway. So the server knows what to send. A simple tag like BR is the same anywhere, regardless of operating system, browser, etc.

Susanna, congratulations. Royce was indeed an enjoyable write. I find yours enjoyable and informative as well. Keep it going :)
