The Lyrics

"Beltway" wouldn't fit. And btw, I really hope I'm wrong. I hope the Constitution will not only survive, but still be enforced, past the next presidential term.
I've seen our rights go out the Beltway,
I saw our liberty laid low.
Life went on for all the feminists,
They all fought the Catholics,
Now they're against the law.

She held a Senate seat in Harlem,
Though she lived in Arkansas.
She ran the Baptists down,
And drove them underground,
And she banned right-wing radio.

I've seen our rights go out the Beltway,
I saw the ruins from my yard.
You know we almost didn't notice it,
It was the CPC on Brooklyn Boulevard.

They burned the churches down in Dixie,
Reminds me of the KKK.
Protests were everywhere,
But no one really dared
Try to stop the National Guard

I saw our rights go out the Beltway,
I watched the Constitution burn.
The cops were there on almost every street,
Their orders to arrest
Whoever spoke at all.

They sent some bombers out from West Point
To blow pro-lifers off the earth.
They gave the Queen her way,
They blew St. Pat's away,
And sent the bishop out to sea.

You know, corruption ruled the Beltway,
But there was never tyranny.
But now we all live in depravity,
Our new government is worse than Mexico's.
Now gone forever are the Christians,
Perhaps a handful still survive.
They hope the world will see
The worth of liberty,
And keep humanity alive....

The Constitution is already on life support. It's in slightly better shape than Terri Schiavo was. Where's Bill Frist and Tom DeLay when we need... oh, that's right, they helped put it in that condition. I don't know if Hillary is the answer, but Bush isn't even asking the right questions. The fact that you used a Billy Joel song that includes the words "I watched the mighty skyline fall," when it was under Bush that it came too damn close to coming true, shows that your politics are far beneath your parody writing talent. Hence the five on pacing.

I had been expecting it to be 'window' but 'Beltway' will do. On the upside, maybe a nice little nuclear terrorist attack leaving several million dead will take the next prez's mind off of us for a while. Heaven knows, no one's safe when Congress starts making 'bipartisan' deals! For now, let's all give three cheers for gridlock, and pray that Bush will dust off that blessed veto pen.

Interesting, Mike, in my Yahoo group I got a favorable comment from someone who described himself as "probably more progressive than Hillary". Now, I'm no fan of Bush and he certainly helped a great deal to set up what may be about to happen to America, but there are many fine liberals I could stomach having in the White House -- even though I don't agree with them -- because they will for the most part respect the separation of powers and the First Amendment. Personally, I wouldn't mind at all seeing Obama upset Hillary in the primary. - MM

Very powerful parody, MM!! Let's all hope that there is no queen in the White House to ruin things. 5's

Although Clinton may have been horny as hell, at least it's not at the twosome now, "Bush", and "Dick".... Can there be anymore of a sexual induendo than that?

(ABC3) An interesting take on a subject that usually gets criticized with simple minded rhetoric. This parody took a smarter line of thought.

(ABC) Well...I must say I disagree with the principles behind this. Quite a lot. But I appreciate that this wasn't just your typical shout-rant, and I must say I don't like Hillary much either. (Go Obama!)

(ABC) I don't keep up on American politics, hell, any politics at all. But this is a very intersting parody, with a powerful message. Good job, Michael. 555

Where is Brooklyn Boulevard? Your writing talents aside - you've just lived through six years of the worst and dumbest president in history - someone who stole the office - and you're scared of Hillary? Tell the truth now, are the republican fascists juicing the kool-aid with higher octane? Really, after six years isn't it time to get an administration who respects the Constitution rather than the present one who has gutted the Bill of Rights down to the Second Amendment? "I hope the Constitution will not only survive, but still be enforced, past the next presidential term." -- Hey, I'm still waiting for the Bill of Rights to be enforced during this presidential term. Finally, if you don't believe that the tyranny of the majority has been going on since Bush and his buddies stole the election then you have no idea what tyranny is.

(ABC3-Q) Well written, and above the average political parody on the site. Wish it were a bit funnier, but it's good enough to get a 545 vote from me. Great pacing.

(ABC3Q) certainly not aiming for "funny" Mike, but well-written because your points and predictions were passionately made - 555
