The Lyrics

As you know it, Aaliyah died in a plane crash after she had finished shooting a music video. Shortly after that, my sister Kim died in a car crash in downtown Seattle. This song is an everlasting memory to these two talented young ladies who strove to be the best in their respective fields.
A stage here, turntables there and a great big crowd everywhere
They're putting on a special show in a warm and cloudy place
Two of them, special girls ooh
A stage here, turntables there, That special feeling everywhere
Can't wait to see them once again when I make it here to heaven

I'm feeling terrible these days, the world has lost a special singer
And also one amazing DJ, it's a very sad old world
Oh, they've been gone long ago, It still hurts bad, don't you know?
Nobody can do anything these two girls did

Do you remember those nights hanging out at the concert hall?
Just to catch a little glimpse of two great acts
Oh, you'd dance to all the hits Kim would play
Around Chicago, hot beats, cool nights
And you'd be feeling just all right

Kim and Aaliyah were the entertainers
In a way, like sisters they were
One would spin, and the other sang all our favorite hits
Nobody did any better or was more of a hit than those so-called sisters
We never knew we could want more than that out of life
Surely Kim and Aaliyah made the experience fun

Kim and Aaliyah, they couldn't be stopped in the year 2001
When they were still on top and still having so much fun
Everyone said they were something
Aaliyah, I love the way you sing
And Kim would always play the songs to make you dance
But there we were waving Kim and Aaliyah goodbye

They died different ways, but it still hurt so bad
And we got our hearts broken twice
A double-whammy we had to endure
And it hasn't gone away to this day
Heard Aaliyah was killed when her airplane had crashed
But that wasn't the end of it yet

And then Kim's death occurred in a big car crash
And it's always the same in the end
For when they were killed, it stopped my heart
And they died just days apart
Now the two are in heaven, together again
And they are never coming back again

Kim and Aaliyah were two of the best in the year 2001
From beginning to end and throughout the show
Till the end of their lives
I can't go back to Seattle, the best I can do is pick up the pieces
But we'll always have the memories of them having fun
Oh, and do you still miss Kim and Aaliyah?
Can't tell you more cause I told you already
And here we are waving Kim and Aaliyah goodbye

A stage here, turntables there, there ain't no talent like it anywhere
I can't wait to see them again when I get to heaven

Sorry, but I couldn't make heads or tails of this and I know he original quite well

Touching idea. Obviously this subject is very personal, but that aside, you opted for comments, so I'm going to assume you're open to criticism on this. Overall pacing is good as far as the structure of the original song, but the line by line pacing is off -- for example the first line can easily be altered to fit the original song's rhythm by making it "a stage OVER here, SOME turntables there...". Also, in some places, you completely ignored the rhyme scheme of the original. But good overall effort.
