The Lyrics

We were sitting around the office talking and somehow the subject got around to Jaleel White allegedly beating a woman. I naturally asked the question, "Shouldn't she have been able to beat him up?" I was informed that this was not the same Jaleel that I had a mental picture of for all these years. He may may not be the little nebbish I remember but...
He’s no longer a nerd in the classical style.
Wearing high-water jeans and a simpering smile
And he’s come a long way from his stint on TV.
You can say he’s now cool, but he’ll always be Urkel to me.

No longer suspendered, in loud plaided shirts
So socially awkward it physically hurts
Crashing ‘round on the set, landing hard on his knee
You can say that he’s hip, but he’ll always be Urkel to me.

Oh, he’s got class and aplomb, you can say he’s ‘Da Bomb’, he no longer goes “splat!”
No, he’s no longer a geek, with a high whiny squeak of, “Did I do that?”

After “Family Matters” he got other work,
As the voice of a hedgehog and working with Kirk
Even though his star listing is just above ‘B’
You can call him Jaleel but he’ll always be Urkel to me.

Oh, Nerd-hood’s left him behind, and he pays it no mind, he’s a man on the make.
Oh, But the role he once knew, and that he was through, is one he’ll never shake.

Well he’s been in the papers a number of times.
First being charged then acquitted of crimes
But he can’t be convicted, no evidence, see?
You can call him Jaleel, Mr. White or “Big Time”
But he’ll always be Urkel to me.

Never seen your name here before, stranger. Excellent debut song. And don't worry -- you post a few more tunes and others will warm up to you
