Got a friend, whose name is Bernie,
He's as kooky as Barney Fife
Likes to buy and sell and peddle things
Apt to even sell his wife..
The shrewdest of salesmen that you'll ever know

To eskimos he could sell a fridge
Or an air condition-er..

Last week Bernie sold me an old horse I call Flame,
The saddle came with stereo sound..
And that in itself might not seem so insane.
But I live in an apartment downtown..

Sneak him past the landlord, everyday
And keep him tied to my bed
Have to truck six miles for bales of hay
And every day, one bale, he gets fed
He's swayback from the load,
And all four legs are bowed
But like me, he's fast..when given head..

I go ridin' down thru Boston on a horse I call Flame,
Feel like old Paul Revere..on the rein
Cloppin' those dark streets..havin' fun is my aim
Sometimes I holler, "British comin' " again

Like to unwind, and gallop worry free
There's no cooler place than to be
Race 'round town like we got a wing
While tight to Flame's mane I cling
It's very therapeutic..play the stereo loud
Lit up by that old moon above
Cruise thru that city filled with hist'ry, real proud
On my one-horse power I love
