Parody Song Title:

"Jagdpanther"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

A specification was issued in 1943 for a new assault gun to augment the StuGs and this turned into the Jagdpanther variant of the Mark 5 Panther with a new superstructure and upgrade to the 88mm PAK 43/3 L/71 with 57 rounds and a single 7.92mm MG-34. The Tank Destroyer had sloped armor up to 80mm thick and weighed 46 tons with a speed of 46 km/hr on the same Panther/Tiger engine- the Maybach HL230 P30. It appeared in 1944 in small numbers and then many were assembled for the Ardennes Offensive that failed in 1945. From then on the Jagdpanther fought on the Western Front up until the collapse in May. Considered the best Tank Destroyer of WW2, it is only superceded by the larger and more powerful 72 ton Jagdtiger with the 128mm gun which was a mobile blockhouse! 392 Jagdpanthers were built and only 77 Jagdtigers which were barely used in 1945 at Remagen. Postwar, W Germany built two types of Jpz (one with a gun and one with rockets). An odd Kpz Leopard III had 2 guns co-axial, see below pic...
It‘s the Jagdpanther, Jagdpanther, built for fighting
Assault gun, 46 tons- heavy
When the 88 (mm) gun fires it sure sounds like thunder
A Third Reich wonder, strong as can be

Development since 1943
Superstructure on Panther chassis
Tank Destroyer inspired much fear
Everytime it did appear

It‘s the Jagdpanther, Jagdpanther, built for fighting
Assault gun, 46 tons- heavy
When the 88 (mm) gun fires it sure sounds like thunder
A Third Reich wonder, strong as can be

(Added verse)

Used in Ardennes, but no victory
Fought on the Western Front intensely
Defensive actions in the last year
Killed many tanks- short career

I hear Flipper wasn't too keen on this parody, but Judy The Chimp flipped for it. Go figure.

Thanks to Flipper, I spent my entire childhood worried that I'd stumble across some blasting caps and blow myself up.

Porfle, have you ever seen the Australian version with the Kangaroo- "Skippy"? It has the same formula of ranger, son, and talented animal who leads them to trouble!

I think we got that show but I never watched it because I never was all that big on kangaroos.
