Parody Song Title:

"I Spent the Night in a Chrysler Cordoba"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Just off the top of my head! WTF???
The luxury of Chrysler, four thousand I paid
On the hood, an Aztec Eagle displayed
Went on a road trip, got caught in the mountains
383 sputtered, no gas, got delayed

I spent the night in a Chrysler Cordoba
Up on a hill, for all to see
That soft "Corinthian" leather was just like most cars
Leather and vinyl despair, Montalban's a liar!

It was a crappy night in the Chrysler Cordoba
Gold toned AM radio- whoopee!!!
Highly overrated the Chrysler Cordoba
Me slumped up in the back seats with no heat

(Afterthoughts)

Fiber glass reinforced white walls?
Gold tones here and there?
What was I thinking?
I'm not even Hispanic!!!
The Corinthian leather was actually just standard leather-vinyl upholstery made in Newark, NJ!!! The Cordoba name was from Cordoba in Spain, but the first hood ornament was an Aztec Eagle followed by latter models with the coat of arms from an Argentinian coin!!! The car was supposed to appeal to Hispanics, so Richardo Montalban (Mexican) was hired to present the 1975 model in a TV commercial.

I remember the ads for "Rich Corinthian Leather". Vinyl from New Jersey! Wow! At least no cows were slaughtered. I had an '86 New Yorker. Piece of junk. Wouldn't start about half the time. But, I wished I had it the day those two fools started chasing me down the highway, trying to run me off the road. It would have made an excellent battering ram.

Actually, the cushions were leather with vinyl siding. Pretty standard for the time. Chrysler just invented Corinthian which had nothing to do with Corinth!!! The car had a lot of flash and symbolism designed to attract Hispanics; hence all the gold tones.

ISTR Jack Nicholson in Mars Attacks asking for a limo with soft leather, "Corinthian, if you've got it!"
