The Lyrics

Well, see, the thing is, she's not Merry's Queen. She's not Queen to most of you reading this. But she IS Pippin's Queen, for I was lucky enough to be born on that 'prison island' :) So here is an ode, sort of, with a nice bit thrown in for Merry and the rest of the red white and blueys, just so you don't forget your roots! For those unfamiliar with the original song, you can get a reduced bitrate mp3 here.
Lizzie, time's so busy, her hair is thinning
("Cus a crown's not good for split ends)
And that regal wavin's so "in'
You're Lilibet Windsor

"Fifty-two, it saw you girl
Take cue to step up to the starting line
They crowned you hard and sceptered you
(Farewelling countries bound to undermine)
The Canucks left (with some regret)
Australia's not republiced (yet)
The Commonwealth's been murky for some time

Lizzie, just like Vicky - reign's femininning
Liked a Greek man, Phil she did wed
Then had four kids (one future Head)
They've kept her so busy

"My forty years in "92
Wants celebration, but instead it smelt
Stupid kids all acted up, then fire
Saw my Castle damn near melt
Wouldn've been surprised to see
Yanks re-ignite that war o'er tea
Some "Annus Horribilus" I was dealt !"

Lizzie, got that wussy Europ'en Union
Built the Chunnel - Gaul now appends
Ever French now at our rear ends
It's makin' it stressy
Kinda chagrinning
And the Korgi's don't comprehend
But she's not yet chucking it in
She's sover-eign Ms.-y
She's sover-eign Ms.-y

Interesting and informative... had to look up Annus Horribilis.... bringing the arcane to the masses... great work... thanks for the link to the song, too!

As an Aussie expat living in Blighty, I guess she's my queen twice! Fun stuff, Pip (I'm guessing this is mostly yours...) 555

Maybe we should do it all over again - this time about Lizzie Borden. Or we can elave that one to AFW.

Awww Kristof, I did the Chunnel... ~sniff~

Anyway, thanks everyone

Thanks all. TJC, you're welcome for the song link. Kristof, well, mainly. It was second nature to me but I did some dot points for Merry to work with - she came up with the good stuff about the Chunnel and the French. Back to TJC, you wouldn't believe how hard I worked to get Annus Horribilus in there :)
