Song Parodies -> "Just Leave Us Alone Now"

Original Song Title:

"I Think We're Alone Now"

Original Performer:

Tommy James & the Shondells

Parody Song Title:

"Just Leave Us Alone Now"

The Lyrics

Oops, I seem to have left out a chorus when I cut and pasted!
[JARED:]

Parodists rave
don't understand why we're together
And whatever we say
They don't understand
The truth is...

[INGEBORG]:

I speak up whenever I can
Don't always hold someone else's hand
Trying to keep my cool here on the site
And though we speak up side by side,
I'm not some wimp who wants to hide
So now we say...

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now!
It seems as though your minds simply can not be found
Just leave us alone now!
The grinding of the rumor mill's an ugly sound

[JARED]

Look at the way
I've got to hide how I know her
'Cause what you will say
Think you know it
And so I
Simply sometimes fight by her side
I'm only doing what i feel is right
You all hurl your insults at my best friend
and now the monkey room is involved
throwing poop at Ingeborg
so now I say...

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now...

[INGEBORG]

To ruin people's fun would get me really down

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now...

[JARED]

I'm just a knight fighting for my angel's crown

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now...

[INGEBORG]

I've made a lot of friends, don't want to let them down

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now...

[JARED]

Can't you see a friendship that is world-renowned?

[INGEBORG]

Chuck gives everyone a chance
but now you've pierced my heart with your lance
Hard work to hold my own when we all fight
Though I'm embarrassed now and then,
it's fair to stand up for my friend
so I agree...

[BOTH]

Just leave us alone now
In a true and simple friendship our souls are bound
Just leave us alone now
The singing of this duet is the only sound

So...I'm not sure I get it. Are you saying that Ingeborg is aoid?
Johnny D - September 27, 2004 - Report this comment
Ingeborg and Jared, I'm sure all people of goodwill shall hear your plea and sympathize with you. I sympathize with you, and I sincerely hope your experience on Amiright grows better and better every day. Also, 5-5-5 for this wonderfully heartfelt parody of friendship.

Woops, that last clause of my previous comment didn't come out right ...... I didn't mean "parody of friendship", since I can see that your friendship is REAL, not a "parody" !!! LOL, my mistake! The true spirit of what I wanted to say there is "parody whose topic is friendship". Thanks for understanding - - - I'm just a fallible parody writer who makes his share of typos!

What A Room Full of Monkeys did was underhanded and wrong, and I hope you keep writing more funny songs like this one. I think I speak for all the other parodists. If not, I apologize.

I must have missed something...

Finally figured it out...

I'm not AOID nor do I even know him, even though both he and I dislike bathroom humor. Furthermore, unlike AOID, I can usually be counted on to say something positive about songs I actually like. FWIW, I have never used *any* handle other than my real name when I made comments or posted parodies here; that won't be changing, since I use my real name (or a screenname obviously derived from it) *everywhere* online.

Me too, Arwen...what was it?

Who is AOID? And what is FWIW?
Ingeborg S. Nordén - September 27, 2004 - Report this comment
AOID is another guy who rants every time someone posts a bathroom-humor song to the site, but who never seems to say anything positive about *other* songs. And FWIW is a common Internet shorthand for "for what it's worth".
Mavis - September 27, 2004 - Report this comment
It can't be all that common, because I had no clue what FWIW meant, either. And I'm a total internet nerd.

555 because I laughed at it.

Ingeborg & Jared - had no idea "Roomful" dumped on you in some way...don't know (or care) what is was about. Like your stuff & that is what matters. 5's...Ingeborg, I appreciate your position on bathroom humor and also appreciate that (unlike aoid) you DO make positive remarks in your postings. aoid ought to step out of the "Bathroom Watch" position and try to enjoy some of the other postings on this site and then say something about it (not necessarily mine, either, anyone's would do). I mean, SOMETHING on this site must be amusing to him...at least I hope so...

I have noticed that Aoid has commented on other kinds of parodies. Sometimes he acts as the decade police when the real Decade Police don't show up. On occasion, he's said things like "Hey, I liked the parody." (Of course, he wouldn't say that about a bathoom parody.)
