The Lyrics

It's no coincidence that support for the United Kingdom Independence Party correlates strongly with reading the Daily Mail (and to a slightly lesser extent the Express), as the Mail has been peddling a noxious, hateful, xenophobic brew of half-truths and outright lies for years (it probably helps that the editor, one of the most famously foul-mouthed hypocrites on the planet, chaired the Press Complaints Commission & now heads the "Editors' Code of Practice Committee" at its replacement, IPSO). It's funny (well, sad kind of funny) that people who read the Mail can have falsehood after falsehood pointed out to them (there are whole websites cataloguing things the Mail has got wrong), yet *still* believe what they read in it, especially if it fits their prejudices about foreigners/people on benefits/EU etc. Twits.
The Mail says immigration
Floods the nation,
And they agree
So twits vote for the UKIP, says me

But the UKIP, like the Mail,
Tends to fail
In honesty
So twits vote for the UKIP, says me

Knee deep in foreigners they say
They'll keep immigrants away

And the UKIP's xenophobic
Homophobic
Full of bigotry
So gits vote for the UKIPs, says me

[Solo.. as the UK will be in the world if UKIP get their way]

Knee deep in ignorance today
Someone keep the UKIPpers away

For the issues may be hard ones,
UKIP answers
Show duplicity
Please don't vote for the UKIP, says me.

A tad arcane for North Americans. I enjoyed it, but I doubt you'll get a sympathetic ear from the trogs on this site. Good luck.

Straight fives. In the U.S., Fox News is the equivalent of The Daily Mail.

:-) Thanks, guys

Giorgio - it's good to realize there's a rest of the world outsite one's country (and it's a lot less arcane than some)

Herb - :-) I know what you mean about Fox, though I think it's possible it's slightly less hypocritical than the Mail (though maybe not if you include the "fair and balanced" assertion). Not sure Fox News has managed the heights of running an "isn't this disgusting/won't someone think of the children?" article next to pictures of under-age girls in their bikinis. I think they think they have a duty to keep the righteous blood pressure of their aging readership high.
