The Lyrics

This will have to be another long, long intro but the subject is personal and demands it. In order for you to endure that I have worked in a reference from the movie "The Fugitive" (1993), kudos and karma to the first one who spots it. Now figuring "my generation" would be the perfect original song for the subject (and great fun to rewrite) it's still about something very sad that happened in Sweden on July 18, 2008 (an ongoing blogquake never seen here before has even called it a coup) when our government gave the FRA (think NSA or MI5) the right to wiretap and copy absolutely everything digital. Every online page visited, every search phrase, every download, every mail sent or received, every chat, every blog post, every comment, every screen shot, every IP-phone call or answer, every ditto normal phone call, every SMS, every fax, every bank transfer, every digital payment, every digital receipt, everything you can think of, everyone, everywhere, every residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse, doghouse, shithouse and schoolhouse, all the time, in every way possible and with no regard to if the listened to are or has ever been suspected for anything at all. In fact the FRA will don't even really have to tap for it, internet providers are to be by law obliged to send them copies and logs of absolutely everything as above. Personal freedom was defenestrated and neutral political analysts have concluded that as a law it's the most suppressive against individual integrity that has ever been passed anywhere, it's an irony almost beyond belief that it happened on the same day our national soccer team played and lost to Russia because not even the Soviet Union government during the cold war legislated a right to intrusion in their citizens' lives on this level, they may have done worse in practise with the technology available back then, but they didn't give themselves the right to in the book of law.
F-R-A's to track us down (Everyone in our nation)
Every way we move around (Every in-law visitation)
They'll become the net patrol (Listen to the population)
They'll have every click unfold (Copy every conversation)

Every conversation
Every conversation, baby

Freedom was reformed astray (Liberty's in sequestration)
As the F-R-A was OK'd (Eavesdrop all the population)
All the blogosphere wants revocation (That's a major reclamation)
Fight this state run molestation (Snooping voyeur usurpation)

Voyeur usurpation
Voyeur usurpation, baby

Downloads, net porn, if you're gay (Every blow and inhalation)
That should be for Judgement Day (Every moral deviation)
This law is a fucking desecration (Scuse me for the profanation)
Going downhill machinations (Sneaky dark side legislation)

Dark side legislation
Dark side legislation, baby

F-R-A's to save our souls (Full scale online penetration)
From sex and drugs and rock & roll (Every type of recreation)
Our whole nations' on parole (All and every generation)
They'll have to bet put on hold (They're the moral violation)

F-R-A's a violation
F-R-A's a violation, baby

Sort of Big Brotherish, I guess

Been a while since I've seen "The Fugitive" (US Marshals has been on a lot recently though) so I didn't catch the reference. I liked the rhymes you used in the title line. That law is crazy: looking through that much information is impossible. I take it this law only applies to residents of Sweden or those who use Swedish sites?

Fives. The lawmakers tend to flip time to time, and neighbouring countries should learn from each others' mistakes. We had prohinition in Finland, which was a catastrophe; Sweden decided not to opt for prohibition because of the Finnish experience. I sincerely hope we will likewise learn something of the Swedish lawmakers' brainfarts.
