The Lyrics

I went to visit my old colleagues at work today. Most of them are being let go as of tomorrow, April 16th, with just a few remaining for about a month or so more. I found out one of my favorite people there was out with a toe problem and had not been in for the last week. When I started there in October, 1997 he was the Training Instructor for new hires (he still was until we got word on April 29th, 2003 that we would be history within a year). I kind of wanted to see him just to say "good-luck, and keep in touch" and make sure we exchanged home e-mails. Anyway, I got his home e-mail from one of the other folks there and I decided to write him a parody. So this one is for John E., a great guy and a long-time Dodger fan. I've posted a lyrics link in the bottom comment section.
I'm off of my feet in pain
Doctor said not to walk; I should refrain
Now I'm limpin' instead of swayin'
Must let my toes mend, ahhh-ahh
Yes, let my toes mend

Can't pretend that they're fine
So distraught; "my toes hurt" I whine
Can't walk long, so I sit here cryin'
Some relief I'm desirin'

Now my toes feel like fire again
Maybe in time they will not give me pain
Feel so sad; I'm soakin' my feet in vain
When will my toes mend? Woe-oe
Please let my toes mend

So off of my feet I'm stayin'
Hoping one day I'll be pain-free again
I'll be swaggerin' soon, my friend
And I'll say "amen", oh, yeah
Yes, I'll say "amen"
