The Lyrics

Who needs a driver's license anyway?
Striving for driving over your mind
Life's rough, certain stuff you can't define
So please show your ID, everything's fine
License requirement, show ID on time
Who cares about your friends?
Don't have to waste your free time again

License requirement, driving a car
Turn on, tune up, don't go way too far
See for yourself, see for yourself, yeah, yeah
See for yourself, see for yourself, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Driving your jalopy around town
On the go, on the road, up a hill and go down
Stop lights and street life, what else is new
Off-limits on speed limits, one point of view
Who cares about your friends?
Don't have to waste your free time again

Striving for driving over your mind
Life's rough, certain stuff you can't define
So please show your ID, everything's fine
License requirement, show ID on time
Who cares about your friends?
Don't have to waste your free time again

License, requirement, license, requirement
Sha-la-la, sha-la-la....

One of your better ones. And you have a point. A driver's license is like a loyalty oath: It's no guarantee that the driver will be a good one, and the truly good ones should be offended that they're even asked to have one.
