The Lyrics

2-1
Day 1 day 1 day wrote a
2-1
Day 1 day 1 day wrote a
2-1 day 1 day 1 day 1 day wrote a 2.

Well I thought of it Sunday (ooo)
And I wrote it out Monday (ooo)
Then I posted on Tuesday (ooo)
And they hated it on Wednesday (ooo)
Then they dissed it on Thursday (ooo)
And it pissed 'em off Friday (ooo)
When I scrolled down Saturday (ooo)
I said, "One's guy nailed me."

2-1
Day 1 day 1 day wrote a
2-1
Day 1 day 1 day wrote a
2-1 day 1 day 1 day 1 day wrote a 2.

I sent it on a Monday and I thought it'd kill
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)
Nobody'd notice it was brainless swill
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)

Yes, I thought it'd kill
Yeah, was brainless swill
And when I saw the votes
A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1

"Your pacing is atrocious and your jokes are lame!"
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)
"It lacks coherence and satiric aim!"
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)

Yeah, my jokes were lame
No satiric aim
Ten people logged their votes
A few 1-1-1's and 2-1-1's

I felt infuriated so I called my dad
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)
His reaction made me twice as mad
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)

Yeah, I called my dad
Damn, he made me mad
Yeah, from my pops, the vote:
"A 2-1-1, son, a 2-1-1"

My parody was sucky, how can I survive?
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)
It knocked my average down to 4.5!
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)

How can I survive?
Average: 4.5
That ditty cost me votes
A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1

I guess I gotta work on my internal rhymes
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)
I pressed a lotta jerky during vernal times
(A 2-1-1 song, a 2-1-1)

That verse made no sense
Yeah, Mercedes Benz
Damn, I can smell the votes
A few 1-1-1's and 2-1-1's

Whoa
A few 1-1-1's and 2-1-1's
Whoa
A few 1-1-1's and 2-1-1's

DKTOS to the first song, but Part 2 had me rolling on the floor. Would it be wrong to give you three fives?

Thanks for the comments and the votes, too; however, the one's guy hasn't taken the bait on this one yet.

Meta-humour about the writing process goes down well with me, at some occasions, this being one of them. :-)

I never meta-humor I didn't like. d;:^)

funny idea Bob, and lovely execution - 211s are actually worse than 111s because they imply some intelligence has been used - 555

Thanks, Stuart, and yes, I agree that forcing a song to pace well while paying little or no attention to meaning or humor or "flow" can mess up a parody. I'd rather shoe-horn a few syllables in than have to read "did blankety-blank" instead of the actual past tense verb. Am I ranting here? MAybe. Just advocating for more naturalness of language and focus on goofy jokes, less paceophilia.

preaching to the choir here, Bob - I totally agree - hallelujah in fact - sometimes the forest is missed for the trees, yes? humour, meaning and naturalisitic flow should take priority over exact syllable pacing and rhyming, and it's always interesting to see the decisions different writers make when there's a 50/50 choice between the two

I see some anal re10tive smart-alek gave this parody its namesake vote. Come on, do we really need that?
