I keep writing this down, then forgetting where I put it. Just dug it up and want to post before I lose it again. Inspired by an episode of "Doomsday Preppers".

Is dying from a viral disease

Eating what we've hoarded away

Of course, living like monkeys and living like Monkees are two very different things; monkeys' lives are typically solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short (as the cynical philosopher Hobbes would say) while the rather more civilized and peaceable lives any and all of the Monkees lived were typically much more enjoyable.
Good start, you should do the whole song.I plan to do a parody of Chumbawumba's Hey Hey We're the Junkies.
I was glad to find the shorter version as I remember from the 60's. My proofreading skills have slipped a bit. You're right, the first line should have read "monkeys". Glad someone is still reading my output.
