Parody Song Title:

"Ode to Yes Fans"

Parody Written by:

Dr. Oliver Clozoff

The Lyrics

Yeah, the title kinda sucks. This is in honor of the fact that Yes has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (RRHF) for 2014.
Rambling verse, just words that rhyme
Spews prog rock in seven time
With sentence fragments, drug induced
Intended to confuse

It cannot be a parody
Unfortch'nately, it's true

Hazmat suits protect the team
That has to work the concert scene
Where bean sprout-farting Yes fans dance
In Birkenstocky shoes

It cannot be a parody
'Cause all this stuff is true

Peace sign, fashion crime
Clothes from seventies
Smelly, hippies
Dirty tie-died t's

Old cassettes and eight-tracks play
Songs like "Love Will Find A Way"
And "Tempis Fugit," "Endless Dream,"
"Siberian Khatru"

This cannot be a parody
For sadly it's all true

Well, brown rice, head lice
Pot smoke on the breeze
Bad trip, roach clip
Peace corp enlistees

[Instrumental]

Flower power,
Hugging lots of trees
U.C., Berkeley,
Ecology degrees

Not sure what I'll have to say
When unwashed hippies own the day
The R-R-H-F parking lot
Filled with VDub Type 2's

This ain't really a parody
It's probably all true

Have always thought the band was overrated. Between Jon Anderson's vocals and Rick Wakeman's ad nauseaum keyboard riffs, I never understood the appeal. Extra points for taking a trippy Monkee song and applying it to one of the most over the top trippy bands.
