The Lyrics

This song reflects the admiration that the current US president Donald Trump has expressed for Nigel Farage, a one-time member of the European Parliament. Both politicians are strong supporters of "small government" and a "hands-off" approach to the so-called free market. Both are passionate speakers, often described as populists, and enjoy a high profile in mainstream media, prompting - and often relishing - much controversy.
You’ve seen him on your TV screen,
This man is tall, and tangerine,
Republicans admire him for his business acumen
He stands proud of his employees and his marriage.
He likes to jet around the States,
Selected Britons are his mates,
Gravitates to microphones and never short of quips
As he admires the Ford Mustang parked in his garage.

Oh yes he does (oh yes he does), oh yes he does (oh yes he does),
He’s getting used to Tweeting from the White House -
Mocked for inconsistency, he’s the hero of The Right,
And he’s a dedicated follower of Farage.

They counted votes, right through the night,
He beat those Clintons in a fight,
Stridently denying any bias, every gaffe
Now he’s a dedicated follower of Farage.
And to his golf course, he retreats,
Avoids protesters, on the streets,
Blaming all their violence on the TV and the press
Now he’s a dedicated follower of Farage.

Oh yes he is (oh yes he is), oh yes he is (oh yes he is),
Feeds off fear of foreigners and migrants -
And in due course he hopes to pull the drawbridge tight upright,
’Cos he’s a dedicated follower of Farage.
(four instrumental lines of verse)
Tries to apply a Muslim ban,
Tears up agreements with Iran,
And doggedly his condemnation army marches on,
Each one a dedicated follower of Farage.

Oh yes he is (oh yes he is), oh yes he is (oh yes he is),
His world is built ’round sentimental doctrines,
Nostalgic memories construct his vision for next year
As he supports the riot police with their next barrage (bass notes).

Oh yes he does (oh yes he does), oh yes he does (oh yes he does),
Feeds off fear of differences and progress -
And in due course he hopes to pull the drawbridge tight upright,
’Cos he’s a dedicated follower of Farage.
He’s a dedicated follower of Farage,
He’s a ….. dedicated follower of Farage.
The Ford Mustang is a classic high-speed brand of automobile, much celebrated in popular music as a high-speed, masculine icon. Despite many redesigns and re-launches, it is associated with an audible roar when it starts or accelerates. Both the politicians mentioned in this parody also have a tendency towards loud and abrasive expressions. "Pulling up a drawbridge" is used in this song as a metaphor for reducing immigration.
