Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

One of my oldest parodies, written in 1990.
Where have all the dinos gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the dinos gone?
Long time ago

Where have all the dinos gone?
Turned to fossils, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the fossils gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the fossils gone?
Long time ago

Where have all the fossils gone?
Students stole them, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the students gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the students gone?
Long time ago

Where have all the students gone?
Gone for good jobs, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the good jobs gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the good jobs gone?
Long time ago

Where have all the good jobs gone?
Gone to others, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the others gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the others gone?
Long time ago

Where have all the others gone?
Back as students, every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Sounds like a vicious circle. Hmmm, interesting parody, Bill.

Well the original theme was a complete circle (flowers, girls, soldiers Graves, flowers). Yours doesn't hold up, and it's not really funny, only a little interesting.

And I suppose if I brought the dinosaurs back in the last verse, that would make it funnier??? I wrote that parody as a satire about the academic world during the economic downturn during Bush Sr.'s term, as college students who found employment prospects daunting had to go back to school.

W.T., no need to be so defensive, it's just an opinion, take it with a grain of salt. if i was defensive about all the petty criticisms of my parodies, and all the times i got fours and threes when i thought i deserved fives, i'd be ripping into a few people now. don't take it so seriously, much better for your mental health.

(Voted earlier) I thought it was a really good update on the old standard. It is funny, (albeit not in a ha-ha way) that this is as applicable, today, as when you wrote it. But, I didn't think you were going for laughs, so I rated that category the same way I vote it on everyone else's parodies -- on a scale of 1 to 5, how well did you accomplish what (I think) you were trying to accomplish. I thought you did a fine job, across the board. I reckon, if you *really* wanted to bring it back full circle to the dinosaurs, you could have had the displaced graduates pumping dinosaurs into mini vans for minimum wage,. in the last verse, but a lot of people have never seen a full-service station and wouldn't get it.

You mean they didn't turn into oil which turned into Bush conspired war with Iraq? Fie, Will, you are losing your touch! ;-)
