Original Performer:

The Fifth Dimension

Parody Song Title:

"Copernicus"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

claimed the moon was just a satellite
folks stupider, thought him bizarre
our home is just a planet ?
our sun is just a star ?

this is the dawning of the age of copernicus
age of copernicus
copernicus
copernicus

he tried to bring understanding
silly theses were abounding
he relied on his precision
to explain the solar system
but the public only dissed him
copernicus
copernicus

see the sun rise
'round the sun we spin
the sun's our friend

see the sun rise
'round the sun we spin
the sun's our friend

see the sun rise
'round the sun we spin
the sun's our friend

How many Polish people does it take to make the sun stand still and the earth move? JUST ONE ! Right now, I observe 3 groups of five planets.

You're actually short one line -- there shoud be one more after "but the public only dissed him". But that's a minor oversight. Still a 5'er.

Five moons for honoring the greatest Pole of the last 1,000 years. Of course, at the rate the Pope's health is declining, I may rethink that statement.

How about this: "And the Vatican dismissed him..." ? 555 anyways!

Dear Alvin, Actually it was the clergy who dissed him. The public's source of knowledge was the Church. As is the case so often today. But - you might be interested in reading/hearing the Shape Note version of "The Last Words of Copernicus". To quote Mickey Spilaine, "He didn't care. He was dead." A challenging topic to wrap your mind around and a very good job. Thanks.

I've got a feeling Copernicus is over-credited with that greatest- quantum-leap-of-all-time - I think the idea had been around centuries before him (altho not widely acknowledged) - but nicely done, alvin

Shine on, Amiright Star. And don't quit writing. Our little world here will be much the darker the day you don't rise from the west and post a song here.

The earth is an oblate spheroid, flatter near the top and bulging around the equator. Second, the Bible has several OT scriptures that state that the earth is round! Try this link:BR>https://answersingenesis.org/astronomy/the-universe-confirms-the-bible/
