Original Song Title:

"Light My Fire"

Original Performer:

The Doors

Parody Song Title:

"Buy My Tire"

Parody Written by:

Paul Robinson

The Lyrics

You know that I would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
I'd say anything to you
Just to make you buy my tire

Come on buddy buy my tire
Come on buddy buy my tire
After this the price gets higher.

The time to hesitate is through
No time to go through all the flyer's
Other brands cannot compare

No one else has better tires
No one else has better tires
Nobody can beat my tires
Warranty does not expire

The time to hesitate is through
The tread is bare on your back tire
Accidents can happen too
You could die in a car fire

Come on buddy buy my tire
Come on buddy buy my tire
After sale the price gets HIGHER!!!

Simple and slick - this parody's got traction.

Yep...right on Target (that where you bought the tires?).

Wheelie good. 5-5-5

Jan, Haven't been on-line lately so this is a belated "thank you". Glad to have the Library to do it from but it's not super-convenient. Need to catch up on all the parodies issued lately...somehow...

not your best, but not bad

Alvin, thanks for the look. Agree totally with your assessment. It's amazing how easy it is sometimes to tell someone's early work from what they are putting out now. I remember when I did this I was pleased with the pace and semi-pleased with the rest. You know, it was solid enough but it was missing the kind of absurb, bizarre hilarity that I enjoy reading (and writing, of course).

I had a feeling this was an "oldie" of yours, Paul. It's like Johnny D said at the time - and yes, your writing does improve with age.

David C -Thanks! While I think it's still an "OK" parody there is a pretty noticeable difference between that and my current posts. It seems that was so long ago but the truth is that was posted Nov. 10th, 2003 - only about 4 months ago...

Nice job, Paul. I guess this one's been around for a while and I just never came to it; but it was good; I vote 5-4-4.

Serafina - Thanks, this was one of the first group of 5 parodies I posted here in November, 2003.
