The Lyrics

Didn't think I was going to miss this?
Try to remember that distant November
Just one more voyage, then home awaiting
Sailors remember that stormy November
When swells ran high, winds not abating
Ship would dismember, and every crew member
From the skipper to the most lowly rating
Waves fear engender, they sunder and render
Then swallow, swallow

Families remember with feelings so tender
Who dared the lake, the risk not spurning
No chance to mend her, the bulkheads surrender
From that fateful night, there'll be no returning
Waves of November extinguish life's ember
And swallow, swallow

Came that December, the grief all remember
In pity, though, refuse to wallow
Go through the motion, lip service devotion
To ancient forms, tradition hallowed
This year the meetings, traditional greetings
Ring hollow, hollow, hollow

The Fitzgerald Fiasco was an interesting time in AIR history. But around here, we are allowed to learn and change. My goal was to produce at least one parody for each member of the 29 man crew. I'm sure I exceeded that. Even Tommy Turtle, who functioned as a sort of conscience and mentor never seemed to object to the basic premise. I'm glad some of the old timers are still around and reading my stuff. I like the 555 chimes. I moved a few months ago and at night I sometimes go outside and listen to the bells on the courthouse clock tower. It is a comforting sound.
