Here's a news item that is fascinating. A little boy named Coy Mathis who lives outside Denver has Gender Indentity Disorder (GID) and has identified as a little girl since 5 mos old, gravitating towards feminine things and then voicing his need to be "fixed" so that he could wear girl's clothing and look like a girl. His parents took him to a psychiatrist who diagnosed him with GID and afterwards, not wanting to psychologically damage their child, the parents allowed Coy to grow his hair out and wear girls clothing. The elementary school at first let Coy use the girls restroom in First Grade but parents and some students started to complain. So they then issued the Mathis family a notice stating that Coy would have to start using either the teacher's lounge restroom or the nurse's office restroom at the beginning of the new school year. Coy responded that he "isn't sick" and wants to keep using the girls restroom. So the family has pulled their kids from school for home schooling and has gotten legal help in fighting for Coy's transgender rights to use the girls restroom. Colorado has Anti-discrimination laws. Negotiations are continuing.
