Original Song Title:

"Dear Prudence"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Dear Buffy"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Dear Buffy, won't you come out to slay
Dear Buffy, chase the ghouls away
The sun is down, the sky is black
The undead come, so let's attack
Dear Buffy, won't you come out and slay

Dear Buffy open up your eyes
Dear Buffy here the vampire lies
The wind is loud, come on let's start
Let's get that stake right through his heart
Dear Buffy won't you open up your eyes?

Underground, ground
Underground, ground
Underground

Dear Buffy let me see you fight
Dear Buffy such a lovely sight
The hands that punch, the foot that kicks
And knocks those zombies out for six
Dear Buffy won't you let me see you fight?

What, all 1's and no comment? Again I say, you may not have liked the song, but can you point to a single line that's even one syllable out?

Re: Phil's Comment -- What, all 1's and no comment? Again I say, you may not have liked the song, but can you point to a single line that's even one syllable out? Phil I've noticed that many of today's parodies have all 1's for votes... I think someone's just spamming the vote totals...

You could well be right, Leb. Thing is, I know it's not one of my better songs - once the idea struck while I was writing the other Buffy parody, it took about ten minutes max to write down. However, it is spot on the pacing (which in theory is the only objective one of the three; still seems kind of subjective, though)

Or maybe someone just doesn't like Buffy (or is anal about spoofing the Beatles).

The problem with low vote counts, is it's easy for someone to be a jerk and just vote all ones, and skew the vote counts too much. I've noticed also noticed some people are picky about anything that appears to make fun of either the original song, or the subject matter. So a Buffy fan, or a Beatles fan might have just been upset you dared to use them. or maybe you have a vote stalker.. someone who dislikes you so they just vote all ones on your parodies.. I'm pretty sure William Tong has a few on this site..

I liked it, I'm a Buffy fan. They don't all have to be Ha Ha funny.

Well, I liked it! I love Buffy and this is one of my favorite Beatle's songs, but it probably isn't too popular. People shouldn't vote if they don't know the original song. :\

Thanks meow79.

Phil - Agree with ChuckyG. Either's "1-derer" or Buffyholic with no sense of humor. Don't THINK a Beatles fan would be that narrow-minded although one never really knows without a comment present to explain. I don't think anyone would "1-1-1" a song where they didn't even know the original, as someone already pointed out the SOP is to just pass or say "DKTOS" when in that situation. This was a pretty good job, Phil...have to roll with it, though.

I like the Beatles, Buffy, AND your parody.
Phil Alexander - January 27, 2004 - Report this comment
Paul - this was pretty much the start of the 1-derer's crusade to piss off the parody authors: I've had so many parodies hit with 1s pretty much the second they turned up, I've given up worrying about it... s**t happens, and it usually comes from some a***hole

You know, Mari - so do I :-)

hey, random but maybe you can help me. There was a song done by the beatles let it be, but the words were changed to tie in with Buffy. I cant for the life remember it or why all of a sudden it popped into my head, but it was something I believe anya was mentioned in the song to. But anyway if you know ANYWHERE where I can find the lyrics it would be a great help

Laura - The only Beatles parody here at amiright that mentions Buffy and Anya is this one: www.amiright.com/parody/60s/thebeatles1084.shtml - don't know if it's the one you're after, though. If it's a recording, I've not heard it, I'm afraid.
Laura - September 14, 2007 - Report this comment
Nope that wasnt the one im thinking. Im pretty sure it was done to let it be. And its got Anya here at the magic shop putting away things as she can be, giles wont you come home let it be...or something to that extent. It was just a written song with the beetles song playing as a kareoke version to sing along
