The Lyrics

Yuck!!!
Crap, crap British food
Mincemeat on toast not good
Scotch eggs look like pooh
Battered creme eggs? Dude!!!
Black pudding, sick goo!

Crap, crap British food
Scampi fries, hit the Loo!
Gravy from a teapot? Rude!
Beans on toast won't do
Hair laden pork scratchings? Eew...

British food crud
Old sh-te, not new
How 'bout Spotted Dick?
Screw you!

Crap, crap British food
Mincemeat on toast not good
Scotch eggs look like pooh
Battered creme eggs? Dude!!!
Black pudding, sick goo!

Crap, crap British food
Scampi fries, hit the Loo!
Gravy from a teapot? Rude!
Beans on toast won't do
Hair laden pork scratchings? Eew...

That wretched isle cooks cruel...

My ancestors "enjoyed" a much simpler diet. I remember a "Wizard of Id" cartoon in which the King receives "Sean O'Shea, the famous Irish chef", who presents him with his latest book, "One Hundred Ways To Boil A Potato". I've heard that Australians eat something called "Vegemite". I'd look that up to see what it's made from, but I'm afraid I'll find out. Thank goodness I live in America where people eat Tide Pods.

Vegemite is a thick, black Australian food spread made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives. It was developed by Cyril Percy Callister in Melbourne, Victoria in 1922. ~ Wiki

I spent a summer in Liverpool once and had scouse, a sort of meat stew and Wet Nelly which is sort of like a fruitcake! The beer was good. Other than those I think British snacks are also good. But your list is quite appalling to us well-fed Yanks! 5's

Britain doesn't even rate in the Top 10 food cultures and cuisine. At least America came in 10th. Italy, Spain, France, and Greece rank high for Europe with China, Japan, Thailand, and India representing Asia. Of course Mexico ranked 9th.

On the other hand, the Nestlé Aero chocolate bar comes from England.

I like the Curly Wurly bar (miniature Marathon Bar type made by Cadbury), Dandelion & Burdock Root sodas, and battered cod with mushy peas and thin sliced bread! I have a local British restaurant with store, but the prices are really high. I go maybe twice a year...

Ron - I've tried vegemite at a party once. You put the stuff on crackers. It's extremely salty - I'd say it's an acquired Aussie taste. Kind of like kangaroo meat is - it's greasy.

Ever heard of 'spotted dick'? It's a favorite 'spotted' pudding in the UK. Heinz carries it in the UK. Brits just LOVE it. Still - 'spotted DICK'? LOL
