Parody Song Title:

"Super Terrified of Simon"

Parody Written by:

Ethan Mawyer

The Lyrics

An imaginary audition in the early years of a famous singing competition. Not based on personal experience.
Still got a lump in your throat so ya shiver
And step on the stage with gut butterflies
Seacrest starts talking, you search for composure
No time to be getting the shies

Summon your courage, start prepping to sing
Words that you must not forget
Talk for a bit until they say it’s time
For your song

Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Forming a sound from your ribs to your mouth and
You hope it’s not pitchy, since dawg that’s a no
Substance and style and your pitch and voice power
Determine where you’re gonna go

You think you’re matching the beat and the tune
Wonder if they hear the same
Judgment awaits after cheers from the crowd
Seems so long

Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Paula’s impressed by your soul and ambition
She’ll give you the ticket, and now the two guys
Randy says sorry, you’re short of his standards
Of course this is where your fate lies

Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
Super terrified of Simon
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Do you win this trial by Simon?
Do you get a smile from Simon?
Do you get the bile from Simon?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Dude it is your turn with Simon
Dude you could get burned by Simon
Dude your ticket’s earned from Simon
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Love the title sub Ethan. Great tune to parody. Paula’s such a softie! Hang on, here’s Simon’s score: 555

I especially like how the dreaminess of the verses match the situation, as if time is standing still for the Auditioner, then he snaps back to reality in the chorus when he remembers Simon is in the room. Excellent.

This was great, Ethan. I parrot Agri's comments about being in the head of the singer during the verses and then the change as they keep realising that their fate rests on others. Perfect song to use for this purpose and flowed well with the subs. Good job.

I wish you could have provided Simon's result. You left us in suspense and hearing his insults were always the best part of this show just like Gordan Ramsay which I'm surprise wasn't touched upon at all today! I echo what everybody says about the cleverness of being inside of this contestant's head.

Simon's a bit of a wanker, yes?

I love how you match the vowel sounds of the OS in your word substitutions! This parody had a touch of sweetness along with the terror. Love it! $555 and a ticket to Hollywood! BTW, I thought the very last line of the parody revealed the verdict.

..and that's a "yes" from me :-)

@Top Hat - "a bit"???

5 golden buzzers (whoops, wrong show), 5 golden tickets (no, wait, that's a movie), 5 cowering Cowells! There ya go! Very funny, Ethan, and the meter is really spot on. No shirking here. Great job! (FYI - Simon has mellowed a bit lately; AGT contestants lucked out; not so much his AI casualties; he was a scary dude, er, um, bloke).

You're going to Hollywood, Dawg,,,,,I always wanted to say that

Great title sub, is this how you felt before your solo shows? Funny stuff.

Simon says 555!

It’s almost as if you auditioned for AI, Ethan! This is excellent, and builds nicely to a terrific climax. Gripping and incisive...all you could ask from a parody. As for Mr Cowell; he might scare Americans, but he’s seen as a slightly grumpy pussy cat here in the UK. 5s all day for this gem.

Ethan Mawyer? Now THERE'S a sight for sore eyes! Good to see ya, even with sore eyes. I was gonna be all original and compliment the way the AHHHHHHHHHHHHH perfectly fits, but Claude Effing Prez beat me to it. As you've lovelyly pointed out, Simon is the prototypical bad cop on "find the next Justin Guarini" reality shows; now they all must have one. Also also, I've heard the album this song comes from is pretty decent for a mid-career band.
