Grandpa knows "Yesterday," but not the Elton John song. He's hopeless! About drinking, he subscribes to Oscar's opinion that "I can resist anything but temptation." Before he fell asleep in a stupor, I sang "Saturday..." to him in my Conservatory voice. He said, "The parody is the bee's knees. You twenty-three skidoo now and give the kid straight 5s." So, uh, how old are you? What are you doing Saturday night?

I've heard "Saturday Night's All Right" but don't really know it. Still, the parody of "Yesterday" stands on its own as a celebration of drinking and riotous behaviour. If it's a "smoosh" from another song, so much the better. That's the sort of effort we need around here.
