The Lyrics

You'll probably have to be a "Dragnet" fan to get anything out of this one.

It was over sixty years ago
Sgt. Friday hit the radio
He was solving cases constantly
So the sponsors put him on TV

And now he's working hard for you
The day watch out of Homicide
Sgt. Friday's "Just the Facts Please, Ma'am"

It's Sgt. Friday's "Just the Facts Please, Ma'am"
His partner Frank has got his back
Sgt. Friday's "Just the Facts Please, Ma'am"
They're on the law and order track

Sgt. Friday's "Just the"
Sgt. Friday's "Just the"
Sgt. Friday's "Just the Facts Please, Ma'am"

"This is our lovely city
Los Angeles, C-A
The crime rate never seems to stop
I know because I have a badge
I work here, I'm a cop"

You don't really want to make him mad
Cause he'll lose his cool if you are bad
Then he'll haul you in and come unwound
With a lecture that'll burn you down

With witnesses he'll often use
The words we always love to hear
Sgt. Friday's "Just the Facts Please, Ma'am"

I never watched the TV show but enjoyed the movie with Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks in which Friday tells the woman, "Kust the fax Maam"!!! Anyway, 555!

* "Just the fax Maam". Typo, typical Friday...

Bit before my time but I can still appreciate this, Porf. Well done, great pacing as always.

A quick skimming of the parody titles usually reveals the most outlandishly hilarious belong to you, Porfle. This is as funny as the Jack Webb/Johnny Carson skit about "The Copper Clapper Caper" (which can be enjoyed on YouTube) 555

Much appreciated! I love the "Copper Clapper Caper"!

How do you make these connections, Porfle?

I was lucky this time--"Sgt. Pepper" became one of my TV heroes, Sgt. Friday, and then his catchphrase just happened to fit in with the rest of the song title!

Loved your parody and the B/W TV show. Why were the crime witnesses almost always female? "Just the facts, sir" simply doesn't resonate as well.

Thanks! I guess Sgt. Friday got more info out of the ladies because he could turn on the charm with them.

I wish I'd thought of this one. Actually, I almost did, years ago, turning "Taxman" into "Facts, Ma'am."

Joe Friday and the Beatles just naturally go together!
